The foot is still important in American football. To start the game, there is a kickoff. Every change of possession requires a punt (if it's not a turnover). Every score requires a field goal kick, whether it is a touchdown extra point or a 3-point field goal. After the field goal, there is another kickoff to change possession.

So is the goalkeeper in football without him you would lose for sure but you don't see the name 'Handball' or 'Goalkeeper 2000' do you and punters and kickers are seen as kind of pussys in the nfl because they don't/can't tackle anyone and give them brain damage or a broken limb

I like Soccer (football for you euro's) but 'american' footbal is 10x better to watch. I mean a typical soccer match is a bunch guys kicking the ball up the field, down the field, up the field etc. Maybe once or twice a match there's a sick drive to the goal that leads to an amazing goal.
But football....fuck, every play is exciting. Seeing a huge hit is far more exciting that watching some guy kick a ball up the field only to have it kicked back.
Now, if soccer had checking, then it would be a different story. Thats what soccer needs, checking.
And not to mention soccer players are fuckin babies...ive seen games (watched on the other day where this happened actually) where a guy does a slide tackle, doesnt touch the guy with the ball and the guy with the ball flies into the air, lands, rolls around holding his leg, acting like he's hurt bad, the ref gives the other guy a yellow card or a red card and then the 'hurt' guy gets up and jogs back to his position in no pain whatsoever.
Thats what I hate about soccer (especially the Italians, they are the worst for this), all the players who take dives.....thats not sportsmanship, its being a fuckin pussy.
They should introduce some kinda 'dive detection system'. Like take the example i used above. Since soccer players wear cleats, the refs should check for some sort of indication of physical contact...a cut, a red mark, broken skin....fuck, anything that proves that there's the remote chance of injury. Cuz the way it is now, its ridiculous.
I remember the last World Cup. The Italian team should get into diving (as in swimming diving) since thats all they seem to do on the field....

You mean as opposed to the "take 1 yard, lose 2 yards, take 2 yards, lose 1 yard" etc. etc.... That makes me wonder if there's something in the water in North America that makes all of you display symptoms of ADHD or some other problem that affects your attention spans negative.
While I'm not a huge football fan (I prefer hockey) I can appreciate the tactics, strategies and skillful passes and shots. I guess that's what separates NA from the rest of the world. You guys want to see a dozen guys hug and cling to each other or try to do as much damage to each others as they possibly can (isn't that why K1 and other full contact sports exist), simply out of blood lust and the need for action every 3rd second with inflated scores.
Disclaimer: read my first disclaimer. |
Yeah man, Im a hockey fan too. Fav sport to watch. Best game on earth. Well, NHL/NA hockey...international hockey sucks....barely any checking. Thats why Canada usually wins international tourney's. If its not Canada, its the Russians, Swedes or Americans or even the Czechs.
Rest of the international teams shouldnt even show up.
THe World Juniors start on the 26th (big thing in canada cuz we usually win the tourney and alot of kids from the team end up in the NHL ala Sidney Crosby, Jerome Iginla etc). Always watch that tourney. If we dont win (Canada that is), ppl here get pissed....no one tops the Canadian hockey system...americans and pretty much anyone who wants to play professional hockey comes to canada to learn/train.

Sorry, Football...its hard to refer to football in the traditional way when your talking about both European Football and North American Football. Would get rather confusing ya know? Hence i used soccer
Btw, in canada, we refer to soccer as football now eh. Noticed it lately while watching Sportscentre and shit
EDIT
The yanks are the ones who still hold on to the soccer term....they dont want anything to do with europe....they even call Canada "to european"....lol

And they really make sure they get that message across by mocking Canadians for saying "aboot". |
lol that kills me. No canadian (aside from ppl from Newfoundland) say 'aboot'.
And what kills me even more is the fact americans say 'ruff' instead of 'roof'....a dog says 'ruff'....the thing that covers your house is not a 'ruff', its a roof.
I always get into arguements with my cousins from Texas when I talk to them on the phone about that. And then they come back with 'well, canadian's say 'aboot'" and I say "Do I say 'aboot'? Do any of our family members say 'aboot'?" and they say "well, no".
All i say after that is "point proven".
Only Canadians that say 'aboot' are Atlantic Canadians (Newfoundlanders, ppl from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick etc).

not enough americans on this forum i see
to you canadian, i don't know where the hell you pulling that shit out of, we don't say "ruff"
(ha, the fact that your friend is texan, who probably has a southern accent, may explain your perceived phenomenon)
and we don't say that canadians are too "european", haha man... that's fucking pathetic
and to the dumb croatian who claimed that nba teams have been losing to european club teams? where the hell did you get this info?
unless you're talking about international basketball tournaments, which the u.s. has recently decided is worth its time, hence the redeem team's absolutely dominating performance in the olympics
also, why are europeans such whiny ass wussies, yall are bitching left and right about the stupidest things, like for example why we call football, football. do hamburgers originate from hamburg, germany?

Your mother is dumb first of all, second stop whining like all american bitches tend to do, third your knowledge about basketball is laughable, all your stars where beaten by Greece that has 0 nba players a few years ago, Porto Rico destroyed you by 20 points and on the club level you lose more and more, Macabbi even beat an NBA team on your own turf and that was played according to your own rules, I won't even talk about when nba teams tour around Europe.

Haha, but I bet NBA teams then go and accuse the European basketball rules as pussies or wussies or something similar, and that is why they lost, not because the EU groups (or IL in the case of Maccabi) are better

it's clear you're fucking lacking in basketball knowledge, if you don't like america, admit it, just don't post stuff like this that obviously reveals the fact that you don't have the slightest grasp on basketball
the 2006 fiba world championships, all our stars? do you call kirk hinrich, elton brand, shane battier, brad miller, stars? you don't know who they are, oh my bad. in the 2008 olympics we had guys like dwayne wade coming off the bench, and you can still make a case that we did not have all our best players, kevin garnett etc.
between 1992 and 2008 we never fielded the best team in international tournaments
i should have said the "last olympics" in my last post, altho i did say the redeem team
hey stick to water polo, isn't that croatia's national sport

2004 when USA lost to Argentina some players on that team where Lebron, Carmelo, mvp's Duncan and Iverson, Marbury, Odom, not sure what you want these are great players the problem is although you tend to have the best player it's a team's game it isn't tennis, whoever has the best team wins and other teams tend to outsmart the Americans and win.
2006 was the real disappointment though they put a lot of effort into that team and it is pretty much the same as the team from 2008, coach K and the whole management is the same, Lebron, Wade and Carmelo where the key players just like in 2008 so you seriously need to do some rechecking before you write something only key player that was missing was Kobe compared to 2008 so you know shit about basketball, Howard was there as well as Chris Paul all 5 played in 2008. And what's with the bitching who the fuck do you want on your team, Brand is considered and elite power forward in the nba it's not my problem if KG or Shaq don't feel like playing they are both old btw.

Yea anyone who has seen at least a couple of NBA games can see that the skill gap between NBA and any european team is enormous. I think the last winner of the Euroleague - CSKA Moscow got owned by some mediocre NBA teams during the preseason.
As for american football - it is simply my favourite sport. I love the strategic aspect, the beautiful passes, amazing one-handed catches, the runs, tackles, etc. It is so much more diverse than soccer. Even though i enjoy the occasional soccer match.
