I agree.

graphics, art and presentation.
10/10. I'ts unique. There are some breathtaking environments. At first i was skeptical at the cell shading here, but i'ts really nicely done. Feels like a part of 1001 nights tale
|
Another game showing that ultra-photo-realistic graphics aren't the only way to make good games these days. My only gripe is the Corruption and Fertile textures make me feel like I'm constantly playing the same 2 zones, rather than seperate areas in the game.
Quote: | the platforming.
You'll never be lost thanks to Elika, you'll always will know the way thanks to the markings and scratches on the walls, even after you jump on a pillar you'll face the right direction..
I do hate the green plate..
5/10

I like how intuitive it all is. There's nothing worse than getting stuck for hours because you can't find the way the developer wants you to go. The green plate is indeed a pain. The camera doesn't seem set up to cope with it, and it's the most trial and error that this game puts you through, trying to remember the entire course, just cause you can't actually see what's ahead until you get almost too close to it.
Quote: | the combat.
At first i was impressed by the combat animations and combso. Later i was disappointed by the constant timing button pressing/ mashing and the annoying enemy stances- which force you to use a given attack.. 4/10 here
|
Combat is tolerable to me, but I'm glad there's so little of it.
Quote: | overall- 6.5.
If the combat and the platforming were better made- to be fun and challenging and not boring it would be a really great game..]
Also, there is no way on earth that i'll spend my time searching for the rest 400 orbs to unlock the cool skins... cheat time i guess, petty, there is no additional content that REALLY matters an will make you play again... |
The combat and the platforming aren't that bad. Maybe you're wanting more of a challenge, but it's clear from the start the game is set up to be a user-friendly platformer, rather than hardcore.
The two things that take away most for me are the boss creatures like the Warrior, Alchemist and Concubine. Why am I constantly fighting them? Twice I might be able to stand, but 5 times is just padding your game. It's not really like you have to change tactics against them either.
The 2nd thing is the seeds. Why are they integral to the game. It's just forcing me to play through the same zone again, as they're not there on the first time around. With all the zones in the game, it's not like they needed to forcibly extend the game's length.
I just stopped playing it cause im 40 short of opening the next set of plates, and I just cba with it. At least with the first play through of an area, all the platforming is fresh and at least isn't just a repeat of what you just played but with a fresh coat of paint.
It's somewhere between a mid 7 and an 8 for me. It would be an 8 without the seeds and the boss creatures that outstay their welcome. If it were even a unique minion of the boss that you had to fight each time, then at least that would be something different to look at while you block, counter, sword sword sword, magic, sword, magic, sword.

Game's too easy and thats not necessarily a bad thing.
The Green plates are rarely a problem, the camera copes pretty well. You just gotta keep looking ahead and avoid obstacles.
Finding light seeds is too easy. I unlocked all 4 powers by just completing 3 nodes.
If you can't be bothered playing through an area after healing it, there is a trainer which gives you unlimited light seeds, use it to unlock the powers.

By Quick-time events you mean the game telling you press this button if you don't want to die?
Boss fights are extremely easy, you just need to get the hang of the combat.
Basically the enemy can change states, meaning you can only use a certain type of attack initially. (Sword, Gauntlet or Elika).
Normal state, you can use any attack. When the enemy is all black and shit, you can only start a combo with the Elika attack and the other state you use the Gauntlet.
It tells you all this if you have been paying attention to the tutorial things. (I wasn't paying attention, figured it out myself after getting 0wned by the boss couple of times).
Trial and error and you will get the hang of it.

I mean the time when the game tells me to block(what ever that icon means-big flashy sign called "DO THIS" would help a lot). I hold the block key, boss smashes me 20 times and I "die". *sigh*

Spoiler: | That cutscene video shows here falling. She sais that she learned to be so acrobatic because place was in ruins, so maybe she just fell. As for ending, I think that the stuff that he puts into Elika is in fact a part of that good god Ohriman, she does get his powers and there is no sign of him elswere. Should be interesting trilogy if they stick with this storyline.
And I think whole thing will be some sort of a prelude. A story of "How nameless rogue became Prince of Persia." |

I'm near the end of the game and I need to push one of the bosses to kill him. Pushing is done by button bashing.
Since I'm an old man and can only manage about ten clicks per second I'm getting kicked senseless. I managed to puch the boss into one pillar but that's it. It took me about half hour and my arm still aches from all the attempts.
I think this is a very shitty way for the game to end - Alt-F4. Would like to continue but it's not even lke practice will make me better - my arm gets tired and I'm going back to Fallout 3.
Hopefully someone will tell me there is a technique, since button bashing is sooo 1980 (and I didn't enjoy it back then either).

only way is to push him, just use some rapid clicking software like this: http://www.brothersoft.com/autoclick-51202.html or if you use gamepad joytokey can be configured for fast button presses

Or if your gamepad has a turbo button, use it.

Exactly what I need, thanks!! Thing is, of course I'm a lazy pussy otherwise I would be outside playing football or something!!
I thought maybe it was one of those games where rythm is more important, and you can click too fast?
Well I'll try the program and hopefully finish the game tonight.

Let's face it, in most games these days if you "die", you just go back to the last checkpoint or autosave anyway - PoP just skips the loading and retracing steps.
Games with romantic involvement.... hm, can't think of anything that isn't pure cheese, except Monkey Island. There must be some movie tie-ins though

Baldurs Gate 2, and most rpgs from bioware have some kind of romantic story line. For the rest I don't know, but nothing comes close to how well is this one made.
