worrying performance by France, but maybe Henry getting on the scoresheet twice with some signature goals will help lift both him and the team in the quarters.

They go through to play Greece while England will have to settle for the home nation Portugal. Personally I don't see a difference between the two, both very capable and France at the moment are probably the most susceptabile to the underdogs (i.e Greece...)

Wow! I'm starting to think Rooney might actually be a good player. For once the British media's hype is well placed.
The inventors of the beautiful game (England) are playing nice football.
Shame we have to face the Home Nation (Portugal). But I suppose if Portugal are not going to win the Championships then somebody has to beat them.Smile

Our Swedish manager, Sven Joran Ericksenn (excuse my spelling), is great at getting the most from his players. I am aware that on paper we don't have the best players but yet we still play great. Compare that to France who have a great squad yet play poopooh.

Anyhow, Rooney is leading goal scorer. England are the tournament's top scoring team atm. Aah, the beautiful game. Very Happy

wasnt a bad game i was rooting for croatia when they scored and it was 1-0 i was hoping it would shut the stupid cunts up but it didnt esp when they equalised, rooney played good but imo Owens so much more better he just needs to gain his confidence back 2 of the goals were set up by him

Italy are out because they only beat Bularia by 2-1.
Denmark beat Bulgaria 2-0
Sweden beat Bulgaria 5-0

If Italy beat Bulgaria 3-1 then it would have been decided on number of red & yellow cards as Denmark & Italy drew and would have had the same goal difference.

Anyone notice how Del Piero always seems to screw up good chances in every game he plays? I noticed only flashes of creative brilliance in the tournament and even they were muted.

I sincerly hope Raul does not head down this path as his form is very disturbing right now.

One thing I will say though is that Cassano did well to get the late winner, good goal, but it shows that the so called valuable experience is not proving to be a benefit right now - neither is stardom or exceptional talent.

The underdogs and the youngsters who want to prove themselves are putting the big paid names to shame right now.

Italy has to kick Trap. His style of play is dated and didnt work at all during this championship.
Vieri should not have played, too bad Trap didnt pick Gilardino, the second best goal scorer of the serie a. With him and Cassano, Italy could have one of Europes best and hungriest attacks.
Will be interesting to see who gets appointed as new coach, my bet is on Lippi.

Del Piero has been injured for most of the previous season, so his form is understandable. The whole team played bad, they didnt deserve to go through. That includes previous games too.

of course I agree which is a point I make later. But I wasn't actually blaming Del Piero exactly, just that in previous tournaments also he has missed chances which would of taken them through/won the tournament.

It's just strange.... Surprised

I'm glad it's Holland going through as they play much more exciting football as the game against Czech Republic shown.

Germany didn't really make a mark in the first half against a RESERVE TEAM!! No disrespect but the first team for a national side should dominate if not destroy a reserve team from such a minor country in terms of footballing power.

But they seemed to be the most troubled in the first half with some nice play by the Czechs. It was a different story in the second half, and Germany came close on a number of occasions - but no goal to show for their lack of conviction.

Great game, at least from my perspective as I put a £20 bet on the Czechs to win Very Happy not great odds, but 16/5 makes me a happy man.

Rudi actually resigned after this game, and thats a good thing.

I cant believe we dont have one single striker who is able to score some goals,
what a shame.

They did not deserve to advance to the quarter finals if they play like this Sad

finally they are out Smile

Portugal played much better football like in the France game, and England paid the price (albeit a much elongated punishment Wink)

Of course don't worry England supporters, your still the worlds best team - it's just the referees fault you lost.

What a great game.Smile
first 80 minutes for Portugal were about hope, for England it was worry.
Well, Portugal got their break thanks to the inability of John Terry to mark his man.
Lucky for Portugal that they were the home team. The referee wimped out & denied England a perfectly legitimate goal.
Oh well....can't complain really, if we were the home team I would expect dodgy decisions like that to go for us.

It's a shame that tacticly when we go in the lead, we then switch to defensive even with 89 minutes left on the clock.Sad
The moment the referee disalowed our last minute winning goal, I knew it wasn't to be.
Anyhow, it's not too important as whoever won this match will eventually lose to the czech republic (providing the referee doesn't dialow all the czech's goals).Very Happy
