Quote:
In Operation: Anchorage the player will find themselves able to re-live the famous liberation of Anchorage from Fallout lore -- inside a simulation similar to one found along the main quest of Fallout 3. Once the player finds their way into the simulation, they'll be stripped of their resources and have to survive within the rules set up by the simulation's creators.

The Chinese red army is everywhere, and the player will first have to secure the surrounding mountain side and then fight their way into the Chinese base. The player will have to use a lot of their standard combat skills, along with several new tools that will only be available in the downloadable content. These include interactive Strike Teams under the player's command and unique armor, weapons, and other exotic gadgets.

Other info:
-Operation: Anchorage will be about 4-5 hours long
-New weapons and perk
-Combat/stealth oriented
-800 MS Points
-Update (bug fixes) for all versions of Fallout 3 coming
-Second DLC, The Pitt, will take place in Pittsburgh
-Third DLC, Broken Steel, will increase the level cap

Nice, saw the screens but didn't have any details about the DLC, that's a Gauss isn't it?
(Popular weapon in late-game Fallout 2, albeit a bit slow-firing.)

Come to think of it though, as it's just a simulation won't the gear we find in it be unavailable in the main game?
(Some of the higher-end stuff might be given as a reward for completing it though, some code to a weapon locker or stuff like that.)

Not counting other mods or the G.E.C.K editor ofcourse. Smile
(Those will help a bit if these DLC modifications work like they did in Oblivion, which will also mean that "copying" the DLC content should be fairly easy.)

Wasn't the gauss rifle a "small gun"?

Aye, there's been a FreePlayAfterMQ mod for a while now. It's a tad buggy, but still worth it for the ability to continue after the story (at least until the official DLC comes our way)

*does the "Told'ya, told'ya!" dance to everyone that said FO3 was gonna be shite*

I freaking LOVE this game!

Yeah if they want to give you some of the items as a reward for the completion of the simulation, it'll be a trivial thing to do. And if they don't, hey, that's what console commands are for. Wink

hmm so only legit versions of the game will be able to load mods?

From their site:

Loading and testing your plugin:
Loading your Plugin
Loading your Plugin

* Load the Fallout 3 Launcher, don't hit Play.
* Choose "Data Files" from the launcher
* The new plugin you created should be loaded

Wasnt it the launcher that had the CP?

Yeah, and the launcher (much like Oblivion's launcher) works perfectly fine on pirate copies too.

The HD pack is definitely worth downloading .. but only if your machine can run Ultra-high settings PERFECTLY. If you get framerate issues or stuttering, don't bother - these textures are FOUR TIMES larger than standard ones.

Well there's already nine or so "nude mods" ranging from everything from texture alterations to full mesh replacements.
(Some mods also alter the raider textures but few of those leave the dirt on them and just copy the standard female texture over, one even uncensored the kid texture albeit you can't really remove their clothes anyway unless you first use a modification that makes them mortal/killable.)

Anyone noticed that alttabing gives a huge FPS boost? I start the game, load the save and it's 50 fps, then i alttab to windows and back to the game, and fps is 60 in same exact spot. That's 20% increase, wtf Confused

Strange. I haven't noticed that .. I'll try it myself and see if it works ^_^

=Edit=

Nope, same framerate here bud. 40fps out in the wilderness, 75 locked in towns/dungeons/caves/etc.

Was kinda hoping this'd be a magic fix as wilderness travel/combat FEELS noticably slower than internal. Tis my own fault, though.. heh, I'm running 900MB of texture mods (increase from 512x512 standard resolution to the majority being either 1024x1024 or 2048x2048) -- but damn if it doesn't look FABULOUS! Very Happy

It works every time for me, really bizarre, I can clearly feel the game being much smoother and less stuttery after alttab, and fraps proves it:
