I played one round of Team deathmatch lol. Odd but amusing to say the least.. I have a new windows live login and linked to my social club etc, can I move my game saves to the folder for that login now and use them there ?

Multiplayer support sucks atm Game needs a patch and developers need a spanking for this.
Anybody else played Cops'n'crooks and noticed: auto-kicked due to "Your game is running slowly" + Spectator mode slows the game to a crawl = Every persons gets to die once before leaving
Makes several modes unplayable.
The rest of the modes, doesn't seem like theres anybody playing. Give me dedicated servers and a server browser ffs! Fucking console game devs..

that's what sucked on the console too. you just could not find a good game / nobody's playing certain modes.
hate this "join random multiplayer" crap. thought this might get a true server browser, would've even bought it if it had one

MP works perfectly. But SP kinda stutters and my sys is more than good for the game. But I found some tips and gunna try em right now. If they work, will report back.
Either way, they need to make a patch soon. TONS of ppl are having probs if you read the GTAForums...and ppl with like 3ghz quad core, 1tb etc are having problems...its the game...needs to be optimized and bugs fixed. Tho I havent experienced any bugs. Just my fps rate drop in SP and I have a 4870X2...doesnt matter if i run everything on low or everything on high, plays the same. But still, rockstar released some suggestions to temp fix it for ppl who arent having major issues until they release a patch. |

Sadly, it seems they are fixing rather the most unimportant things, like adding support for old pads, bowling and the video editor... I really hope they fix the major issues, but it will probably not be with this patch.

Well, got SP to run perfectly smooth (as my MP does).
Install .NET Framework 3.5 SP1
use -norestrictions on command line
Disable Antivirus software (and other mem hogging appz running in the background).
After I did that, game runs perfectly with every setting on high (cept res, I run it at 1600 something, not the 1900x1080 id like to).
They need to include SLI support badly.
Still game runs perfectly smooth now.
So for those with fps issue, try what worked for me. May not work, may work, dunno. Cant hurt to try

What's all this talk about .NET 3.5? Is that something Rockstar reccomends? And how do you check the version you have.. my Programs Control Panel says 1.1 heh. Looks like I'm behind the times. Figured Windows Update would install that shit.

I dunno how it affects the game, maybe try the GTAForums or something, might tell ya. All I know is it works and makes the game run smoothly (for me anyway...this game seems to be unique to each person for some reason).
But try what I listed above and SP might run smooth (as I havent heard anyone with MP problems. My MP runs smoother than smoooth).

made SP run perfect for me...dunno why but it did. It was choppy and fps would drop every so often, but now, since i installed 3.5, it runs fine. Just a lil choppy once you load the game. After20 seconds tho, it runs completely fine. |

SycoShaman: How do you play MP? I've only been able to find 4 person team deathmatches at best. If you're somehow having fun with it, you have some sekreet triicks?
It's funny that my SP runs perfectly with max traffic density and halfway full viewdistance, but in multiplayer, i die and get the specator screen: 2 FPS and kicked for being a slowpoke. No solutions on GTAForums that I can find

I finally activated yesterday my retail copy with offline activation (perfect and fast installation,only required a 10mb file from rockstar support site) as i leave my gaming pc out of internet connection.System :quad q6600,8800 gt 512 mb O/C,2gb ddr3 ram,xp home sp2.p.s.: i installed the game in a 10000rpm hd.so many days i read so many negative comments and with scepticism i launch the game with commandline.txt -norestrictions and the launchGTA.exe on compatibility mode win2000 because of sp2 'problem'.Launched!
Options,graphics and i see there 1680x1050,textures medium,render high,view distance 25,view detail 37,traffic density 20,shadows 3.ok....benchmark....boom!crash to desktop!
ok...i don't need a benchmark.options,graphics.changed:textures high,render highest,view distance 90,view detail 100,traffic density 100,shadows 3.resources???:867/482!!!!and omg:
Great fps,superb graphics(apart from shadows),played for 1 and a half hour.no dropdowns at all.exit,run again with riva tuner monitoring the frames:58fps with occasional drop to 53 when it's raining.
Conclusion:80% of people have all kind of junk in their system:spyware,malware,trojans,backdoors etc.it's not their fault.every day my other pc with internet connection it's full of them.i'm not showcasing my rig.it's obvious it's not perfect.But it's clean.
Advice:Clean registry,fix registry,clean internet temp files,defrag hd,close tasks.
This is especially for those with quad cores talking about 33fps.

I think you dont need to buy the game really, you can buy a clubkey or just buy a much cheaper game that has a clubkey and use that..

Ok so I have two unused steam versions of GTA IV. Some deal went through and I've no use for them.
These both were the special pre-order deals so those who bought the game got a free copy of GTA Vice City as well.
So if anyone wants GTA IV for 50USD with a free copy of vice city attached to both copies, let me know (depending on user, not selling to those I don't know.)

What is your OS ? My game crash on desktop with a 4870 and Vista 64. Same with Vista 32 and a Hd 3850
