OMG - that's all I'm gonna say. Company of Heroes, Warhammer 40k, Oblivion - all those were protection free. Were those bad games? I don't think so

Could be it's an experiment to see which version sells more since the downloadable version will have drm.

no protection? m... probably a trap..they want all the pirates to play the game and once you start the first level or tutorials, 3 man in black will knock at your door and will force you to come with them and ..they will hold guns and you porbably don't have one and even if you do, they are 3 and you are one and no...you are not max payne.so...
what the hell i am talking about
anyway...i say 10 points to ubisoft for that and i am sure it will not harm the sales..on the contrary, it will only help. way to go ubi;)

Sure looks like it, no protection, unexpected from ubisoft but a pleasent surprise. Do the same with splinter cell and I'm buying, not sure the easiest game in a decade that is built for 3 year-olds to play will sell well on the pc though.

interesting. If it's true and this game has no protection. How many people here are actually going to buy this game? Will you guys really pay off this gesture by Ubi?

No protection at all? Nice move, they probably saved lot of money on the usual game publishing process since they know it's and always have been useless to try to protect a game in any way. I hope to see more companies following the same way.
Release is a surprise to me, knew it was on 360 but not coming on pc so soon. Can't wait to try this out.

That's exactly why this game SHOULD be purchased (assuming its not a poor port).
Perhaps those cocksuckers in marketing will finally realize that copy protection simply isn't worth the hassle, loss of goodwill among customer base, and monetary investment.

Not saying the game is perfect or anything (Based on various reviews and opinions) but I hope Ubisoft won't take any drastic measures if this protection-free solution totally bombs PC sales.
(Well PC sales won't be that great anyhow as console sales will take most of it, especially as it was released on consoles earlier.)
Oh and entering "525858542" as a code on the console version unlocks the classic skins from what I've read, don't know the code to unlock the Altair skin however and I don't know if it works on PC.
(Altair skin required you to link console ID to Ubisoft account from what I remember and the above code was a pre-order bonus from certain stores for the console edition.)

There is no way that no copy protection will help sales. No protection means even a housewife can copy games without any knowledge of where to look for cracks, what is a torrent and so on. With some basic non DRM protection at least they prevent some of illegal copies from being made, and they still get a chance for decent sales with no worry of DRM whiners outrage.

Played it for roughly an hour and a half - they've official created the most dumbed down game ever. There's absolutely no death or suspense whatsoever in this game. Its quite literally impossible to die in any way shape or form.
The games visuals possess a certain charm, but I still prefer the original Sands of Time graphics. Cell Shading is not my thing.
The platforming has been dumbed down as well, with most actions done automatically now, with absolutely no need for any timing of jumps.
The combat is a snooze clickfest due to no danger of ever dying.
They used the whole Light Seed gimmick as a cop out to get out of doing more level design work. "Go fetch every "Light Seed" is about as fun as finding the flags in Assassins Creed - just a lazy gimmick.
I'm sorry, but I feel as though my mother could play and beat this game, and she barely knows how to work the satellite remote for our TV. They've clearly appealed to an even younger audience.
On the plus side, this game has kind of made me want to reinstall the original trilogy.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.
