That doc was 100% pure class lol.. I had it playing in the background today when my womans grandparents visited who are total religous freaks of do good and god will love you types.. needless to say it went down like a ton of lead lol, but I laughed my ass off lol..

edit: I guess it's in their favor for not being hypocrites, they're just preaching what the good book says and they stand for it as well. They're the real christians I suppose. The rest are picking and choosing whatever they feel won't interfere with their lives and consciences, or are outright lying (like 95% of the politicians that state they're born-again christians etc.)

Religulous = Pure Excellence.
Just shows how evil these organized religions are....I watched it with my brother (he's evangelical) and he's like "Bill is full of shit making it up". Im like "Bro, all his stuff you can colaborate with historical text books"...and he's like "well, if they arent christian "historical" books, they are lies by ppl who are all going to hell". So I said "so the worlds most respected scholars and theologians are all lying". He says "Of course, there is indisputable evidence Jesus existed". I asked what. He says " The bible of course". I tried to explain to him that the bible IS NOT a historical document. Its a book of myth...just like the book of the dead and other religious books. They are all myth.
Its ok to believe in myth, but all these evangelicals believe in the bible as "historical fact", which any scholar, even christian/vatican scholars agree, is not a historical document.
But my brother has been brainwashed by the cult church his dumb wife got him into.
Tho my father LOVED it. Ive never seen him watch a movie 5 times in a row and after, he was just blown away. He goes to church, but he doesnt take it as literally fact. He believes in Christ as a myth, which is fine.
Its the fuckinc crack pots who believe in the bible literally.....according to the bible, if you've ever disrespected your parents, you should be stoned to death...so I guess everyone her should be stoned to death (by rocks, not weed).

it was a ton of fun, but am i the only one disappointed by it?
i mean, bill is a great writer and can deliver a barrage of poigant commentary on a topic as he does every week in his 'new rules'
but this felt like a collage of interviews loosely tied together
as if they didn't really have any goal in mind for the film other than to lightly amuse
i got the impression that bill fealt strongly on the subject but always stood way back to play it safe
rather sit quietly than have a real confrontation with the ignorance
if they're shying away from insulting the religious or even trying to convince them of anything, then what is the film for?
it really had potential to be an important film
it picked up pace some near the end, but not nearly enough to make it much more important than any fiction-comedy this year
maybe they'll release a dvd package with a lot of great cut out stuff, but really, it's the main release version 99% of people are going to see, which i think as it stands is a cop-out
