Did you try to 'com' the station and talk to the person?

I don't think that's it, the mission says '2 military personnel' not anyone in specific maybe you can't transport people in a 'scout'. And I found this but I don't quite understand it:
"Make sure that your ship has the following upgrades : Jumpdrive, Cargobay Life Support System, SETA(!!!!), Freight Scanner and around 100 cargo space to carry some of your passengers!"
Do passengers really need that much cargo space? Oh and I don't think I have 'cargobay life support' maybe I can't transport anyone because they can't breath, well just bring a bottle of oxygen and a space suit I'm not a taxi service.

Yeah you can't transport people without the CLS extension. Some transport ships have a CLS built in, but in previous patches I've heard that it can ignore built in software completely. You're best off getting a ship without it built in and then installing it.
I think you can get it in certain Teladi stations or something, but the best place to find one is at a Pirate Base.

You have to remove the line from the HOSTS file responsible for hiding the Daemon Tools servers.

I actually downloaded this, jumped through the many hoops to get it working (DT4.30 PRO trial>full crack, then the whole "throttle CPU speed to get past dvd check) and then, without even completing the training, I stopped and uninstalled.
I've bought every X game to date and I'm going to buy this one too. Soon as I can afford it, hehe.

You obviously don't know much about Egosoft then. ALL the X games have protection similar to "FADE" -- and certain gameplay effects deteriorate over time when it detects you have a cracked copy (which it no doubt will, even with DT Pro)
I'd rather play it properly, with a legit client, and not have to worry about game issues.

Stoopid Christmas has wiped me out this year. I've got £17 left in my account .. and, what a surprise, the Steam release is $39 (£17 is $25) *sigh*
Guess I'll just buy it after Christmas.

The european release is a disc one which comes with the same manual as the steam version, but than printed. Very handy too check up race-ranks and ship-types.

I'd prefer the disk release, but since I'm living in Norway now instead of the UK .. I hate importing stuff. It takes too long and sometimes delivery costs bump the price up a tad too far.
At least with Steam, I could download and play NOW (well, as soon as the download finished, lol)

Since solidshield clones are now working with the latest DT Lite I can finally try this game. NFO says that it's a standalone game but also says that it's a culmination of a trilogy. Is this a direct sequel to X3 Reunion? Do I need to play that game before playing this?

It IS a direct sequel to X3-Reunion. Think of it like the continuation, and subsequent culmination, of the series (X-BTF, X2-The Thread, X3-Reunion) The storyline, what little there was in the first few games, carries on with TC.
As for playing X3 first? Hell yeah, hehehe. They're awesome games and definitely worth playing -- but do you NEED to? Nope.

The storyline campaigns are crap in X games anyway - freeform play is where it's at.
