Just wait for a real release.

- One that gets you past the activation
- One that gets you past the DVD check
For the wobbly camera issue, I do have the solution.
1 - Unplug your Internet cord (this is VITAL!).
2 - Get in game.
3 - When you are told that to save the game you have to login, DO LOGIN!
4 - At this point, you should have the Windows Live Game crap, but it should give you two options: Login or Create an offline account. Go with Create offline account.
5 - It will ask you for a name for the profile, go with it through the end.
6 - At this point you should be back in the game, and in a while your camera will start wobbling. This is "NORMAL".
7 - Get out of the game, close the Rockstar stuff (it should have an icon in your tray, near the clock)
8 - Plug internet back in AND make sure your firewall IS NOT blocking GTA or Rockstar stuff.
9 - Get in the game and enjoy
As long as your Internet is ON and you ARE LOGGED in on Windows Live game crap (although you will always be logged with an offline profile by default now) the camera won't wobble and you can save your game. |

Doesn't work... trigger going back randomly..

IMHO, people who buy this shit R* shoveled out on PC gamers are supporting crap-ass ports loaded with ass-rape protection.
Is it just to actually find out what all the hype was about or? Completed the game on 360 and was a very decent game at the time, while the fun lasted(won't spoil anything by saying the story goes to shit towards the end-therefore the game since the story was #1 with this one). However nowadays, much more selection out there, and I would say even better games to spend time on. Especially if the experience is broken with crashes and piss-poor performance.
Is it the expectation that they will make it better? Not sure if anyone has followed the history, but no GTA game has received much in the way of patching. Always they get like a hotfix to fix a few glaring faults and that was all she wrote in form of "support" As far as modding, I bought GTA SA in misguided hopes that modding would make it better. Yeah.. And I don't believe the devs gave any kind of confirmation of dlc going to the windows platform. So seems pretty iffy on that front, as well.
But..meh.. to each his/her own, I guess. It just kinda dismays me when ppl seem to buy a game based off the (seemingly) unbreakable DRM, instead of the actual merits of the game.
Core i7 920 @ 3.8Ghz | 6GB OCZ DDR3 8-8-8-24 @ 1600mhz | eVga x58 Mobo | 2 x eVga GTX 460 SLI | Intel X25-M + 3x Seagate + WD Black = 2.75TB | X-Fi Titanium | PCP&C Silencer 750 | G15 KB | G5 Mouse | G35 Headset | Z-5500 Digital | Samsung T260HD

one year later and lots of crashes... I think this is the last time Rockstar ports a console game... at least I hope so. Don't get me wrong id love to see great games on the PC, but ports just aren't worth it. Lots of people have been reporting bugs and crashes.

Hey guys, is there a way to transfer savegames from one Live account to another? Does it even store them on my PC? If so where?

Actually it's two steps behind SA (the only thing that is better is the combat) I've been modding that game to death and it looks close to GTAIV with the enbseries and I replaced all the cars with modded ones now they look waaay better then gta4, they even behave realistically. So I'd rather play that again.

Is there a way to COMPLETELY turn off shadows ? Not just reducing shadow density.

I have everything set to high/max and i havent noticed ONE problem yet. Works fine. THe only thing that lags it is the res. Have to play on a low res which kinda sucks, but still looks really really good.
Cant wait till 5 or 6pm when I get my copy so I can play MP

Switched to this one. No issues, and it has one more file for the offline activation that I have not seen in any other crack.
Easy to install all the files necessary are in these 2 folders

some dude at 3drealms forum:
Quote: | So, had a chance to test it at GTX280, QX9650, 4GB DDR2, 150GB 10000rpm 16mb HDD (not clocked) setup. Win Vista 32bit (SP1).
After installation we did a Smart Placement defragmentation with PerfectDisk to minimize potential "hacks" in HDD. We used 180.48 drivers.
Well, as we used an 23" LCD monitor we kept the resolution at 1920x1080 ingame (as it is native). We put everything on high in the game; it ran pretty bad (fps about 15-28). After that we lowered to medium and decreased the density settings pretty much, and got a tolerable gameplay (fps around 30-40). No AA.
So, i've got to say it's a pretty shitty port.
Though Rockstar promised a patch which would solve some performance bugs. Lets wait and see. |

CaptainCox,
You have pretty good PC, so how is the performance on it?
How does it compare to other modern games, in terms of graphics and performance?
