is it true the game runs like shit on average specs. I have an o/c e2160 with an 8800gt. So do I spend 400 bucks to upgrade my pc or buy a ps3/360 and save some money???

Hardly any ATi video card of the latest generation is working with this game (according to many gamezines on the web).
this is quite a shame for rockstar games.
this problem PLUS the frustrating activation process will keep people from buying such a shit.

my buddy has 2 4870X2's, a highend quad and 4GB of memory and can't even run it on low.same with hsi friend with a systgem built around tri sli 280GTX's.
So yes, the game will run worse on anything below that. |

Well, at least Rockstar has solved the "piracy problem" in his own way. the hardware requirements are so insane that no "average pirate" would have fun with this game being downloaded - because only people who spend (without an blink of an eye) 1000 bucks or more for a new high-end PC wont care about the additional 40 bucks for the game itself.
its basically the "luxury solution" for piracy - you have to be so rich to maintain the required hardware that the software costs dont bother you in any way.

Just buy a figging 360. Game plays smooth as can be and it only costs around 220€ or so . Na I am no Xbox fanboi...but it does work  .

At the moment there are only two choices:
either: try to be civil and make the best out of it and ignore the stupidity and repetitive questions about releases
or: lock the thread
I m against the second one, because inbetween some good info creeps up here and there and if the thread is locked, users will just open up new ones because they cant be arsed to read. This way the idiocy stays in one thread at least. |

I have a 4870x2 i can run the game at high but i have to tweak the settings from the default ones (shadows, view distance) @ 35 FPS average (in-game, the benchmark is useless), so it's playable but it doesnt look better than the 360 version, rather the oposite sine the PC port doesnt support AA. I wouldn't recommend anyone to support R*, get the pirated version once its out.
