I wouldn't be so sure there will be a performance patch anytime soon. That's just because they will most likely think that it won't be worth all the effort and money and they are probably right. Millions of gamers will buy it anyway whether there will be a patch or not.
What doesn't help gamers is the fact that press seems to like it (IGN for example gave 9.2 on their review). They have modern systems so they are able to enjoy it, but I doubt someone with older system will agree on the enjoyability part.
Once a customer has bought the game, those big gaming companies usually stop caring.

No wonder the pc gaming scene is dying...
Years ago I used to buy games,
install them and even play them without an issue.
No patches, gfx card updates etc... where needed, GREAT! 
Nowadays you buy the game, install it, and you cross your fingers it runs on your pc from the first time. Mostly you have to download a patch, a new update for your gfx card etc, a second patch...
No wonder the average pc people don't buy PC games anymore, the same title is available on a console, it looks almost as good as on the pc and it runs flawlessly from the first time. You have to know a lot of pc's, performance, gfx cards to be able to run anything on a pc nowadays.
This game is also not polished, it just has to be in the shops before christmas, period.
What a shame......

How do you run this in windowed mode?. I´m trying with "-windowed" in the command line but it doesn´t work, neither alt-enter.

Anyone got any ideas WHY he cant activate it ???
Goes to 30% then 100% and "error cant activate online"...

...for real .. if ROCKSTAR is telling the truth seems to me that this game is something like "OPERATION FLASHPIONT" back in 2001 ...first "cracks" works ...but game was running like shit and was unplayable with them..you cannot have game progres at some point unless you own a original.
