This really isn't true. The PlayStation 3 uses an OpenGL rendering system (PSGL) and OGL already supports DX10 features like the geometry shader.

Didn't want to put them as an example because of the love/hate people have with id. Smile

It really comes down to the talent of the developers, because OpenGL, DX and Glide are basically just APIs which ultimately have the same goal - allow you to express yourself.

of course it favors nvidia graphics cards, they're the corporate whores of the graphics card market. seeing lots of reports from people on ATI cards suffering.

the guy mentioning nvidia and quality in the same sentence made me laugh. guess he doesn't remember all the thousands of defective cards nvidia shipped, then denied they existed for weeks...

You have no room to talk about ATI and Quality. there most recent cards 4850 and 4870 overheat like crazy, everyone has to crank up the fan to sound like a turbine jet engine, or get artifacts.

Seeing how the minimum specs apparently -dont- resemble anything close to what you need to run this game, I'll probably return this game unopened to Game when it comes in tomorrow!

I figured my "mainstream" C2D 2.2 Ghz, 2GB and 8600GT 512 Mb would run this game decently with medium settings; after all, Crysis runs fine at 1024xmedium/high detail.
Really don't wanna take the risk of opening the game and trying IF it works, because then I can't get my money back if it doesnt.. and they wonder why people flee to piracy Neutral

IF you rename the exe it will use more gpu's on Ati solutions. Try renaming it to Oblivion.exe and forcing AA then it should work.

since when is the 8600GT a decent card? It's a pile of junk my 7900GS KO I used to have could walk all over it like it was god. stepping on ants.

if you want a good pc you have to buy the latest parts in every 4-6 months

that's the real reason pc gaming is dying. why would a pc user get a shittier gfx than a console owner who doesn't have to update his gear in 3-4 years?

I know an 8600GT isn't anything top of the line, but since I dont just play PC's I can't justify upgrading my PC that often Sad . How is it a shit card if it runs Fallout 3 just fine, Crysis, Bioshock, COD etc etc.
I'm not expecting top of the range performance obviously, so for my expectations it's been a great cheap gaming card Smile Shame Rockstar apparently can't optimize their game!
