Based on the INI file the engine was first built around DX8 and then changed to DX9.b and finally DX9.c (Shader model 3.0 and all that) so no, no DX10 support.

Hotfix 1.06 Smile
(Current patch version is 1.04, minor quest fix and smaller problems are now corrected.)

EDIT: Woof Woof and talking stick.

EDIT: Downloaded and installed the 1.06 patch, does not include the 1.04 changes.
(Moved EXE file to another directory and patched there to avoid overwriting files and see what is updated, file replaces content instead of patching it thus the larger file size.)

EDIT: Patch overwrites several important PAK files so a new game is recommended.
(Sorry but that's how the engine works, unsure if any of the files updated in those PAK files actually require a new game but I'd recommend it.)

EDIT: Still a few problems regarding certain items even early on in the game.
 Spoiler:

(Used the wrong link from ImageShack, sorry about that, have put pic inside spoiler tags.)

A 2nd Patch is available, fixing the problem with marc when you`ve got Theodors Artefact Quest, as well as fixing some other minor issues. The patch must be applied to a Forsaken Gods Version with Release Patch already installed. Savegames that were made with FSG + Release Patch remain working.

I really, really, hate non-retroactive patches, they should be banned by Haag Mad

Confused:
So after installing the -FLT release patching to the included 1.1 you patch with 1.0x patches?
And is the 1.06 all-in-one so it can be applied directly to -FLT without 1.1?

Currently the patches are not cumulative. (Does not include previous changes.)

Install the game (Doesn't matter if it's the German/Eng DL edition or the disc version.)

Patch to 1.1/1.04 (German/English patch depending on Language choosen.)
(This is why the above doesn't matter, patch is based on retail code and retail version is unprotected.)

Patch to 1.06 (Hotfix, previous patch changed version from 1.00 to 1.04)
(As above either use the German patch or the English one and yes, it's unprotected.)

Play. Smile

If Fairlights version tried to activate when running it then it was the DL edition just put in a scene release and not a "homemade" p2p release.

so FLT rls is the download Edition and it is bigger by ~1 G , is this due to more languages or what ?

also any one confirms about procyon release being more stable or increased frame rate ?

The only possibility could be that download is protected with activemark + using active mark virtual file container for some data or securom online. dunno what flt has. restis retail and buggy and shit.

DL edition is English/German with both text and voice support for the respective languages (One of them is choosen during installation but you can use both and switch via INI editing, text works for all editions as it's just a small file.) whereas the retail edition appears to only have one or the other.
(Ie the German copy contains only German speech while the English retail copy only contains English voice but they're only about 580MB each.)

So if you have both forsaken and the original installed is the world 70% smaller? Or is that just when you have forsaken installed?

Its not hard to understand. I realize Forsaken CAN be played as a standalone, i wanted to know if it can ALSO be an addon.

It can't, still I believe you can port G3 to use the new engine features by moving the PAK files around, ofcourse the compression is updated a bit and trying to unpack those archives will give a few errors so you can't see most of the new files which makes it difficult to grab any needed files for the updated engine. (The "Core" files so to speak like the HUD or lighting or similar, looks like there are quite a few of those files but I wouldn't be able to explain them properly so I can't give a good answer.)

Will have to try this and see what happens as the benefits are very tempting.
(Proper AA, better and more advanced shaders, somewhat more optimized.)

Ofcourse it's also possible that CP 1.7 will take a few of these enhancement and add it to the original game but it's hard to say. (Same publisher but different developer and the CP team is pretty much finished so don't expect them to work on "Forsaken Gods" though hopefully Trinne or whatever the studio is called will keep supporting the title enough to eliminate most remaining bugs despite a rushed release, depends on how far Jowood is willing to go with support as it costs a bit.)

EDIT: Won't work, perhaps due to the different compressions of those archives.
(Not that it makes much of a difference, was fun to test.)

EDIT: Seems I used old versions of those unpackers, these newest ones fair a bit better.

It's better after two patches, still some items remain that you can't pick up (someone's hammer in the arena) left from quests long gone, with a bit of luck maybe one can actually finish the game. I don't understand why they removed the trespassing into people's houses and stealing that was a very cool Gothic feature, now you can enter any house and steal all the stuff and open any chest like I enter a bar and pick up a couple of expensive swords then sell it to a trader in that same bar it's ridiculous, I didn't sneak or anything.

Stealing is a bit hit-and-miss at the moment, taking the weapons in Sildens bar doesn't count as stealing but taking the items on the table next to it will make everyone hostile.
(Especially the misnamed It_Fake_Cup_Gold and It_Fake_Cup_Silver items.)

Similarly taking something out of the house the opposite of the cow farm (Those named cows.) will count as stealing whereas stealing armor and weapons from smithy's and such won't really cause any problems.
(Ofcourse just as in the original you can steal anything if noone sees you but I don't think the consequences are as severe in the addon as they where in G3 as NPC's doesn't seem to notice missing items anymore.)
