Damn some of you are such stubborn and stuck up people. Clearly this game is great and you love it, but you STILL refuse to buy it because of some idiotic principles. Well serves you right, enjoy jumping through hoops and using shady methods in order to play this game with other people

There isn't enough content to warrant 50$, so I'm waiting for now.

Glottis whats with the constant "buy it" propaganda ?
Anyway, me and a friend tried the co-op. Made through 3 of the campaigns on advanced.. and well, for a full priced product, the game has almost nothing to offer.
It's basically a Serious sam with zombies..
It's quite repeatative... go there, activate stuff, wait for the zombies to arrive, go elswhere, activate other stuff, wait for some more zombies, finally go to the rescue point, wait 15 min.
meh.
There are 2 weapons and their upgraded versions, sniper, pistol + 2 bombs... (and who wouldn't choose and stick with the auto shotgun anyway ) For a shooter game , this is ridiculously low amount of weapons..
the versus could be fun but dunno... it's fun to play with the zombies, with the survivors it's the same like in the campaign...
anyway, pretty overhyped product.
Per aspera ad astra

Quote: | Any console command to bring more zombies on screen? |
sv_cheats 1
z_common_limit 50 //increases normal zombie limit in area from 30 to 50
director_panic_forever 1 //makes panic events go on forever, makes for a good real survival.
director_force_panic_event //forces a panic event, like shooting a car with alarm.
z_spawn mob //spawns mob of zombies specified in common limit in a nearby area that rushes humans.
Increase common limit to 200, use z_spawn mob and watch Your cpu cry.
z_spawn tank - obvious but usefull on versus, just like z_spawn witch for spawning witches in doorways.
Another usefull commands I use when playing with friends:
z_gun_kick 1 //adds recoil which is not present by default, no idea why
z_gun_swing_interval 1 //default being .7 prevents playerrs from going apeshit on zombies with medkits.
z_speed 300 //default being 250, this makes game way harder.
There are way more commands, just dig.

Anyway, the adrenaline rush you get once the help arrives is so awesome. We just played Blood Harvest on advanced, help arrived and horde started rushing like crazy at us as usual. One guy go attacked by a smoker so two of us bashing through a horde decided to help him, but he died. Then we tried to make back to the APC and and another guy also died. Only me and 1 other person escaped. Oh man what a rush, just like in the movies, but here you never really know how it's gonna end each time

Just noticed something while speedrunning first map.
Zombies are actualy too smart assuming that they only think about satisfying their primal needs. Like when chasing you they don't follow, they try to predict your movement and run alongside with you, it's pretty scary.

Would you spend 150 bucks on a game with limited singleplayer when playing online is impractical (you'd have a minimum ping of 200-250ms on American servers, or you'd have to convince others to spend 150 bucks on this) and so is LAN because you only have two computers at home?
I won't.
You forget you live in a big planet with many different countries instead of your own little imaginary world where everyone could/should buy games if they wanted to.
Also quit being a hypocritical trolling [...]: you've pirated half the Internet and back, buying only some of the games you've played, and think buying this one automatically gives you the right to get on a moral high horse, tell us what to do and/or laugh at our piracy attempts on a warez site.
Apparently you're unsure yourself of whether the game's worth it or not, given you find it necessary to spend a fair amount of time boasting you've purchased it and that you don't have any problems on an online warez forum to convince yourself instead of actually playing the game and/or living your life.
Go to the official forums and participate there, where your "HA HA I'VE BOUGHT TEH GAME!" is pretty much expected and inconsequential.

The Skidrow release should be steamless. Otherwise they failed epically.

This isn't a warez site. It's a forum that allows you to openly discuss such things without retribution. An environment like this is a comfort for those of us who used to download a lot when we first signed up, but no longer do. It's not always about the download, some of us are actually here for the 'discussion' part of the forum.
That said I don't agree with Glottis and his recent spate of posts. If anything his branding of people pirating the game only serves to strengthen their resolve. Much better to discuss the game and how much fun he is having with it online than tarnishing those who decide not to buy it.
I personally am having so much fun with the existing content that I can't understand why it's a point of contention, just yet, but regarding the 'lack of content'; both Valve and the mod community will quickly rectify this as they always do. Regarding the spammy, Serious Sam nature of the game and a lack of puzzle based maps - again the mod community will offer some interesting alternatives to the 'walk here, defend this, walk here, defend this' scenarios, of that I'm sure. And to people writing off the game because of its superficially ordinary nature... play it some more, the 'AI Director' tracks both your progress and that of your comrades and with this tunes the games experience. It really needs repeated play-throughs to come to life.
But make sure you have the right difficulty setting.
Normal; very easy
Advanced; challenging
Expert; for sadists
...most of all, enjoy playing it with other people. That's it, that's what the game is - anybody who expected anything more than Counter-Strike with zombies is likely to be disappointed. I mean it is so much more than that, but at it's heart...

LOL nerd rage.
BTW I am from a shitty country, we are poor compared to the most of west Europe, but normal people with jobs here still can afford to buy games once in awhile, so save your poor country BS stories for someone else. I had hard time comprehending the rest of your post, probably because it didn't make any sense.

What branding? I simply told this game is worth buying and should be bought. I, on the other hand, received huge flaming and insults because I bought the game and advised others to buy too.

Let's just forget this debate and move on. Arguing about what glottis and others have said has nothing to do with the game. I'm not taking sides, just want to discuss the game. So, let me do that.
After a lot of playing, 30.9 hours now according to steam, I'm really disappointed in the difficulty. Can't really say much about easy and normal, only have played them very briefly since they weren't much interest to me. I have played a lot of advanced and expert though. Advanced seems to be pretty easy, at least for my group I play with. However moving up to expert is a staggering cliff of challenge. We are all very experienced FPS players and expert has us stuck.
One problem I see is that normal infected on advanced do 5 damage a hit, while expert they do 20. This is a huge leap. Completing map seemed to really be largely affected by luck. What items you got, when you got them, what special they sent at you when. Unlucky circumstances could doom your efforts.
I hope they add another difficulty mode between advanced and expert, maybe rename current expert to impossible, and make the new expert the in between. Just because advanced is too easy, and expert as it is currently is too hard. I'm sure there will those that tell me we just aren't good enough and how you beat expert on every map in 4 hours. Maybe we aren't good enough, but it would be nice to at least be challenged, while still being able to win.

I haven't played expert myself yet (finished all campaigns on medium and advanced), but from reading your and other people feedback on expert it seems that it is what the title suggests, a difficulty for L4D experts. I don't think 30 hour play time made you expert yet, I clocked in 19 hours and I don't feel 1/10 of the expert yet
Normal and advanced difficulties perfectly resemble their name in game. So I guess we need another difficulty between expert and advanced, as leap is just too huge between two as many people claim.

I've never completed a game in expert mode. I can get so far, but always fail at the final hurdle. From the sounds of things you can tweak the difficulty on cheat enabled servers - maybe look into that. I find advanced challenging enough personally.

Yeah I found advanced just right as well.
Maybe if people think advanced is too easy and expert is too tough, they could play advanced with some self-imposed challenges with their friends.
Like... not using molotovs and pipebombs, or everyone using only shotguns.
Anyway, the game just came out, I'm sure all this balance stuff will be tweaked soon with all the feedback from the players.
