you buy a game, you can run it in every language you want
ex: i bought HL2 box in france (la bonne vieille fnac), i play CSS in english
you can even swith language anytime you want, instantly, once it's downloaded, it stays on your comp

Using LEFT_4_DEAD_STEAM_READNFO-TEST relase will I be able to host a lan server on hamachi and have friends join?

Psikobare let me see if i understood, if i buy left 4 dead box in france ill be able to play it in english?
but i get language english pack through steam not from box. after all i might be able to invest on 3 boxes if i can get english from steam.

You can play online with people that have the full version on steam servers using the cracked engine.dll, but it starts steam , so don't use your real account!

Re playability and modding potential? Games are priced lower based on their quality and content, you don't pay $50 for a bargain bin 3rd party developed game that's 3 hours long hence why they are $15. This game has high production quality and enough longevity to warrant the price.
It honestly is worth it and overall a great game to play with some buddies. Of course that is all subjective based on your views on the game but I can see a great majority agreeing as have the reviews. I haven't had this much fun (And anguish attempting to beat a level) since back in the NES days.

Not true, some games are locked to your country's language. Dawn of War: Soulstorm for example. THQ are assholes.
All Valve games can be played in any language though.

the following release: Left.4.Dead.NoSteam-PC
is the same as LEFT_4_DEAD_STEAM_READNFO-TEST
but with a cracked engine.dll?
And how can I get on steam servers with either of these? Do I need to just download steam and make a new account in case it gets banned or what?

I agree the price is high for this game although I bought it and have loads of fun. But, some times it's not only the content. Take AI director for example. How much time did it take to develop it?
If I use the same logic some of you have used, orange box should be the top selling box of all time: 5 games(3 new) for the same price.
P.S: was crysis cheaper and with bigger content and longer replayability?

Someone explain to me what the big fuss about this AI director is? I played the demo through about 10 or so times - the only thing that changed each time was the point at which a mad rush of zombies would come at you.
This "director" simply materializes mobs off screen and has them rush at you - what's the big deal? The level layout doesn't change, the weapons/health are bound to one of two or three places every time you play.
Am I missing something here?

I don't know. All I heard since day one was AI director. A lot of people say it's doing its job as advertised.

Yeah the offscreen part is annoying.
I look 45 degrees to the left, when I look back to the right where there was nothing, is a mob of Infected.
Also in the train yard, they just pop in at the distance. Thing is you can see them materialize from nowhere.

Please help me out here as I'm not figuring it out. Me and my friend are on hamachi we create a game through the friends only thing and when we try to play local or dedicated we get a error which kicks us out (also, only the host gets the loading screen).

yeah dowloaded steam app. and nosteam pc l4dead game with cracked engine.dll made new accoutn on steam put game in, i believe its right, steamapps/my email/leftfordead.
copied over the cracked engine.dll.
and whatever i launch game server wise to find, it seems i become the lobby leader, i see people join in the slots at times, but Can never start the game at this time.

Works perfectly here, I can create servers, have others join, chat them up, and play. I can also join others servers and play.
I can start solo aswel and have normal ppl join my game. Works on dedicated and local servers.

Don't bother with dedicated servers, it's a bitch to find free ones, just select local server from game settings, works pronto on shit connection here with great pings.
