Could be good.. could be bad |
Nothing Tim Burton touches is bad. I actually wish he'd get into the minds of developers when making games. Shit would be really twisted.
It's obviously a taste in preference but I've loved everything tim burton pushed out. Everything is just so twisted, but not in a psychopath way or anything. Just...fucked up lol.

Some more info from the forums.
Spoiler: | Hi All Bill Tiller here,
Yes the game will be out very soon and relay depends on how quickly the game can be manufactured and shipped for the in store date, but it still could be Halloween. The hold up is making sure our low-end machines have good video performance for our FMVs. We want to make the FMV viewing experience a good one for those players who don’t have the latest high-end machines. That should be addressed soon, probably in the next ten days. But after that I don’t know how long it will take to actually get in stores.
Anyway I just wanted to let you know what the current hold up is. But other than and a few minor bugs we are pretty much done. We can now get back to full production on AVS 2 and our soon to be announce second project. That game will be announced by our other publisher once the game demo is more polished and we have a final title and graphic for the title. We had a generic name for it but the publisher wanted a name that was unique but still expressed the genre of the story. More on that I hope soon. But right now, mums the word.
But what I can say is that so far it looks really good and it has been so much easier getting this game and AVS2 going now that our engine is done, plus we hired some kick butt programmers, some of whom worked on the Force Unleashed Engine, to add features to our engine and to write tools to speed up our production time. I am amazed how fast a art gets modeled and scripted into the game so we can play it right away. These next two productions will go so much more smoothly. Our team is doing a fantastic job and really taking advantage of what they learned don AVS1. May hats of to them! Thanks guys.
Now that AVS is done for me I am going to find time to upgrade the graphics on the web site, starting with the front page. I wanted to do flash but no money in the budget for that this year, but it will get a new coat of paint.
Thanks all,
Bill Tiller |

hopefully, as long as it won't be dumbed down to the level of insecticide, or lacking in clues like so blonde.

Demo available, English and German. Only location I know of at the time of posting is http://files.filefront.com/avs+demozip/;12373580;/fileinfo.html
It's obviously quite short, but I thought it was really good. Conjures up old memories from some classic point and click adventure gsmes.

The game will be released on the 24th in the UK and soon in the US and on any decent download retail service, like GameTap, metaboli and GamersGate.

well, i have to say i'm disappointed
the art is pretty and i see huge potential with a silly vampire adventure game
but the voice acting is awful (or casting and voice processing more so), the puzzle solutions trial and error due to unintuitive presentation and interface (i'm supposed to just know there's a barrel out?) and the story, what i can gather from this demo, is just silly.. in a bad way
i'll surely try out the final full product, but the demo really didn't impress me
which isn't saying much anyway, being so ridiculously short.. i hope it's an early milestone or something

Anyone get this to work on Vista 32bit? I have tried it on 2 PCs and the game doesn't even start up. Did a search on Google and could only find 1 other post relating to it not loading up on Vista.

The point-and-click adventure game "A Vampyre Story" tells the tale of the
beautiful, gifted opera singer Mona De Lafitte, whose life is brought to an
abrupt end by a vampire baron named Shrowdy Von Kiefer. Henceforth, she is
doomed to a miserable existence as a creature of the night in Von Kiefer's
gloomy castle in Draxsylvania. Confronted with her seemingly hopeless fate
she decides to run away and try to fulfill her dream of singing at the
Paris Opera. Accompanied by her mischievous bat Froderick, Mona must face a
number of challenges in her odyssey and learn not only to accept her vampire
nature, but also to use the abilities she has acquired to her advantage.

During testing we found that on some configurations (namely ones with Vista
installed) an error message occured on exit. This is a gamebug and it has
nothing to do with our crack.

Proper Notes :
Reloaded their release crashes on Vista. Our release and
the original game dont. This is not a game related bug.
We dont need to lie to keep our reputation. And we dont
need to emulate UPX-like protections. We included a mini
image in this release to prove its not a game bug.

I hope this doesn't turn into RLD vs. VTL discussion.
I'd really like to know if this game is worth the download/time/trouble. Mini-reviews ?

Before this thread is turned into RLD vs VTY, someone from rlslog actually explained it well:
[no direct links to torrent-websites please, even if its only for a comment]
Quote: | Reloaded.nfo from Sacred explained clearly that they’re the only group that was able to crack those games, Vitality can’t even begin how these versions of securom worked (if they did, sacred2 would be cracked looong time ago). Reloaded has the best crackers in the scene, that’s a fact.
As an expert just after having a quick look at this vampyre proper from Vitality I can say that it actually only HIDES the crash message, the game bug is still there. The only protected module was “main.exe” (reloaded size is about 100kb, very small and clean - vitality crack is 80 times bigger and ugly). Vitality patched one of the game DLL files which contained the game bug, which like the reloaded.nfo said, is unrelated to the crack/protection.
So to sum this up, Vitality “proper” only hides the crash from you, but doesn’t fix the cause - they are L_i_a_r_s and L.a.m.e.r.s (you can easily confirm what I say by trying out the demo on Vista, crashes in exact same way when you exit the game).
Vitality = Bunch of kids |

no need for a ViT namecalling rant.
The only thing users (endusers) should care about is if it works.
RELOADED crashes, ViTALiTY doesnt
you can get all technical about how they crack, how they are l-o-s-e-r-s etc. who cares?
i dont... cos the vitality version works
And on a note about the game, yes, the humour and voice acting does seem a little lame
