Can anyone suggest a good freeware to backup my original DVD movies? I used to use DVD Shrink bu it does not work on my Vista SP1.

Use AnyDVD along with DVD Shrink, AnyDVD removes the new copy protections on the fly while dvd shrink shrinks the movie Wink

DVD Shrink sucks, it produces awful results. Read some guides on Doom9.org on using CCE with 6-9 passes.

^^ yeah, there are other 'one-click' solutions that use CCE and produce far better results ... haven't done it in a while, but it DVD Rebuilder still around? I guess you're asking for freeware though and CCE is only free if you download it illegally Wink

DVDFab is a good option, but it's not freeware though.
DVDFab HD Decrypter is free.

but really, if you are going to backup a dvd9 onto a dvd5 you should really be using CCE.

unless you have a shitty TV that is, then it doesn't matter Wink

exactly, and there are plenty of places to find cce.. its not that elusive Very Happy

but a cce+dvd rebuilder/pro combo is the best dvd backup solution, get yourself a copy of some sort of menu editing software like dvdremake and you can be popping out your own scene lookalikes.
