I don't read every review there, but upon browsing the scores of all the games they've ever reviewd, I have to say, they have an EXTREMELY high curve... i bet like 99.9% of their reviews are between 7.5 and 9.2 or something like that... it's weird! But I do like their written reviews, they flesh out the game pretty well

Currently there are going to be two multiplayer modes.
The first mode is the main multiplayer mode. It works with all four sides being split down into two basic categories, the regular unit and special unit categories. The special unit’s include heroes such as Aragorn and Sauron. From here the player could chose which category they would like to play as, if you want to play with just the regular units or just special units you select that particular category, if you would like to use both then you select both. The great thing about this system is that because there are only four sides in TBFME eight people could play in a multiplayer game. Four people would control the regular units and four people would control the special units.
Another cool feature about this mode is that if you were to only have let’s say three people for a match and there were only two sides to choose from. Then you could select the computer to fill in where needed. Now you may be wondering what would happen to the person controlling just the special units if their heroes were to die? Well your hero units would just re-spawn at the town center, it is unknown how or if you will have to re-purchase for them to re-spawn.
The second mode is of course co-operative. With this mode, you can play through campaign missions with someone else or even the computer as an ally. I know it is a short description, but what else could someone say about co-op?
Lastly, a few people have been asking how online play will be supported, as in who will be running it. Well I can tell you that TBFME will be like C&C: Generals, as they will be using GameSpy to enable multiplayer play. However, EA promise's that there will be many features to make online play quite a bit better than C&C: Generals. |

but it wont help you much.. its a german site...
there was a release party here in germany yesterday. and they interviewed
marc scaggs. and asked him about co-op. they had the idea but later in the
development the co-op was dropped.... maybe it will be out with a patch.
(which we all know is not going to happen)
sad but true...

Wait when you say Co-op, you mean for the campaign right? Cause an RTS without Team battles is just developer/publisher suicide.
And what I don't believe is how people are in an uprage because it got 83. Simply above average and no more. WTF!?!?! (Gamefaqs for example. Its laughable.)

8.3 is a strong score. But you expect more. Like I said gamespot.com has better reviewers.

How can you expect more? Apart from RTW, what was the most recent RTS to get an average above 9? Strategy games are now just more of the same so when I think Strat I think 8.
EDIT: By the way RTW is just one of 3. It hasn't gotten old yet.

I personally think Gamespot is shite and biased. At least some of their reviewers, especially the one that reviewed Everquest 2 and World of Warcraft.

Meh. Gamespot does the job with accurate reviews. Ign.com does an excellent job providing information about the game.

What did PC Gamer give it? I dont understand. they write about it and speak so highly of it and then when it comes out they just say it's average. They always do that!!
