just a quick update for the fans of this game about the next update
Upcoming Patch Information (posted Nov 2008)
Many people in the community have been asking about the next Patch, questions about when it will come and what it will contain. The purpose of this thread is to provide information, but please recognize that any timeframes are estimates only and not engraved in stone.

In a few weeks we're hoping to have a Patch for you. Please do not confuse a Patch with a Hotfix. As the name implies, a Hotfix is intended specifically address a small number of few urgent points within a short time. The Patch, or Content Update, will do much more. The Patch will include plenty of important fixes, but will also add new content desired by the community and developers.

All the teams work on this at the same time, but on separate items, so sometimes it happens that some things are done sooner than others. As the items with longer time requirements are resolved, they may result in changes to the overall plan (either in terms of the date it will be available, or the content it includes).

Please remember, this information is preliminary so even if something appears on the pre-Patch target list now, it may not be included on the final list. The final list will be given out with the Patch after it's completed it's journey through QA. The QA part of the development cycle is the thing that usually requires most of the time.

The time window we are hoping for is around the end of November, but this date is subject to change for the reasons described above. When we have an exact date for you we will be sure to announce it as quickly as possible. In the meantime, in order to keep you informed about what to expect, we'll be posting some of the planned changed and tested items in this thread.

We will update this thread often with information about the status of the Patch, so please be patient if your suggestion or issue is not in the list yet. It may be included in our next update.

* Fixed several possible causes for crashes
* Added a new ingame-options menu
* Added several new bosses to reward exploration
* Added 8 new portals for more convenient traveling in Ancaria
* Better path navigation in some areas

When I browse through some forums I see alot of problems going around. I know all games get complaints, especially RPG's, but some of the problems seem severe enough to delay playing it. If the support wasn't as good as this, I'd probably just go ahead and buy it now. It's all just my opinion of course.
Or am I talking BS here because most of the problems are fixed?

As far as purchasing online goes, would everyone recommend steam dl or direc2drive dl? Personally, I'm not a big fan of having that steam crap on my hard drive, but I'm not familiar with how the d2d thing is. Are they reliable? Do they have good support? 50 bucks US is a lot of money for something that doesn't work right or lack of customer support etc....

What does everyone think?

Thanks for your help...

I've used steam for years and besides them being a little late for some fixes (friends for instance) I haven't had a single issue. Just keep your information safe, don't forget your password (write it down or something) and you shouldn't have any problems either.

I've imported the game and had it since mid last month, and with the latest fixes the game runs fine for me, it's crashed a few times but never lost much progress at all. I'm having loads of fun with it, some of the easter eggs and funny little things you come across are priceless.

If I buy the game through Steam, is the price still in dollars? So do I pay 40 euros or are extra charges added brining it up to 50?

Edit: Are you guys playing the right game? The talk about this isn't really that great, it's called a mediocore hack n' slash. The reviews aren't that great either. Maybe I should leech it first. Just for clarification, the latest workaround works fine?

As far as Diablo-style hack-and-slash action-RPGs go, Ascaron Entertainment's Sacred 2 is the best genre entry since Titan Quest. It offers a huge world to explore, tons of loot, plenty of monster types, and lots of ways to customize its six character classes.

I agree with this.

There are lots of different enemy types yes.....but they all only have three or four different attack styles.......some rush you, some stand and shoot, some bleh, some bleh

Nothing like D2's enemies, seemed almost as if each enemy had a different attack style, some off the top of my head:

Act 5, in the beginning you fight the short little devils, with devil dens. they could teleport, shoot fire at you, and had a "den" they come out of until you destroy it.

Act 4, diablo's sanctuary, the white glowing enemies that shoot electric balls at you that home in on you for LONG distances.

Act 3, small little guys that had blow pipes and knives, they were always REALLY fast and they could be resummoned from death, until you kill their leader, who also shot fire at your face if you got too close

Act 2, snakes, they would innevitably knock you back, sometimes stun you

Act 1....can't think of any (haven't played diablo 2 in years)

When I see an enemy in Sacred 2, I see xp, I don't pause for a second and think of a plan of attack. I know they are going to die and fight the same as the previous 1000 enemies I slaughtered. The ONLY exception I can really think of is the enemies at the VERY end of the game that throw the circular thing that stays on the ground and if you walk on it, a large portion of your health goes away......makes you look at the floor while you slaughter folks....

But still a great game. Just not as scary....no urgency....

Hence one of the reasons Diablo was and still is the best in this genre. I'm excited to see what they do with Diablo 3 to say the least.

Guys a little help?

First of all I have just bought the game and have purposely not followed this thread to save any spoilers.

I have a very basic question which i'm sure I have overlooked the answer to in the manual.

Anyway I have started as a shadow warrior and just reached level 5. Now I love the rune idea and so far have memorised a few. However I just cannot work out how to 'activate' my chosen rune during combat Sad I have dragged it into the appropriate slot. I dont have time to fire up the game atm but its part of the astral lore and a skeletal hand (at least if i remember rightly)

I am probably overlooking something extremely simple, So a simple answer would be great Smile

How exactly do I activate my chosen rune during combat.. As i have trawled through the manual with not luck. or is it a random spell that requires no activation?

Cheers

Uh? What's the point in your direct comparison that goes to ridiculous levels of depth. So this game isn't Diablo? Well go play Diablo than.

Beyond that, if you are a true D2 player none of what you mentioned means shit. The game was about drops and rushing. Going in depth about the simplistic behaviors of enemies that is completely ignored by the veteran D2 fans makes no sense.

Left click does an weapon attack
Right click uses your "rune" or combo attack.

The circles on the left side are your weapons, the circles on the right are for runes/combos.

During combat, you can switch between your spells (runes) by the keys "1, 2, 3, 4"
(switch between weapons by f1-f4)

Unfortunately, I quit playing a week ago. I loved sacred 1 but sacred 2 was just too boring for me. The recent patch added some new portals, so that might help a little tiny bit. I expected the boss/dragon fights would be something special, they aren't.
