Shouldn't preloading for full version start soon? I hope there will be preload coz I don't want to be downloading it at 30KB/s at release day like the demo.

unfortunately not, and the matchmaker in the demo is shit, ya cant select servers you have been on, hopefully that will be sorted with retail release-if i manage to get onto it again ill be sure to take a note of the name

Nice, but seeing as how I live in the US, I personally wouldn't chance it. Ya see, the Steam user agreement technically forbids users from buying and registering a retail copy of a Steam game from a region other than their own, or rather, gives Valve the option of revoking such registrations.
Back when The Orange Box came out, a bunch of American people bought legit retail CD-keys for the game from Thailand for dirt cheap (about half the cost of the retail version in the US). Games are generally cheaper in Thailand, and initially, the CD-keys registered and worked on American Steam accounts.
Before long, Valve deactivated these keys, and these people lost their Orange Box games (also, they had to rely on this Thai store to refund them their money, because it was not Valve's responsibility; you can probably guess that they never got their money back, IIRC). This was not unfair on Valve's part; the user agreement specifically warns against this, so it's the people who were trying the cheat the system that messed up.
Anyways, that's why I'd be a bit wary, seeing as I'm American, and that's a British copy of the game...

question is is cod5 worth buying or i better use cracked servers (no coop right?)
then i'l go for L4D for sure...but on the other hand i wanna buy cod5 cuz coop awesome there and zombie mod...

I already bought L4D and buying CoD5 too. If you view it from the perspective which game is easier to play online for free then of course it's CoD5. It's a bitch to play Steam source engine games on cracked servers. But buying CoD5 is also a very good choice because unlike CoD4, in CoD5 your online profile is stored online on a master server and so ranks and stats can't be tempered with. I bought L4D and played the demo for maybe 2 hours total. I played CoD5 beta online and now full version online for like 20 hours total. I hope I didn't make mistake with L4D, only full version will tell.

Unfortunately that openserverbrowser command doesn't do anything for me. It accepts it and nothing happens.
A manual attempt gives me this: Connecting to 192.168.1.4...
60.740: Sending UDP connect to 192.168.1.4
Server using lobbies no, requiring pw no, lobby id 0
The server requires that you be running Steam.

L4D is going to be a great purchase come 11/18/08 and beyond. Just look at what Valve is doing to TF2! This game is going to get some great DLC. They will update and keep it fresh so replay value doesn't falter to soon. I have been playing the demo for 2 days now and cannot believe I am still having fun. The best part is that I have gotten so good at the game. It really allows you dominate if you know what you are doing. The melee attack is the saving grace. Nothing better than knocking back 4 to 5 infected and then unleashing lead hell on them as they are falling backward! FTW in my opinion! Beaten the demo on expert 4 times now with different people and each time I was on the edge of my seat. Nice to see other players getting it down too! Good coordination and a lot of fun. Thanks Valve!

In order to do this the server MUST be hosted locally.
- hit ~ to bring up developer console
- type- 'sv_cheats 1'
- to join infected type- 'ent_fire !self setteam 3' or change '3' to '1' to play as Survivors again.
- to force bots to start type- 'director_force_versus_start 1'
- to spawn entities- z_spawn "~''
