I have been playing it for almost a week and just today when i try to play it , I got " fattal error can not find steam files " massage ????? I have the DVD version with steam installed. it's so wired that after a week i get this error. Any idea how can i fix this error. Thanks alot

Just rescue your savegame files before you do that so you don't lose them.

I just got this message with the Half-Life 2 (c) Valve *RETAIL* - VENGEANCE (CD-ROM) version. Played it a bit today, quit, went back 1/2 hour later and now I get that "fatal error" whenever I click the Load button from the main menu. hasssan, did you ever fix your problem with a reinstall? I have not used ANY patches other then the original cracks. I also let Steam update after I installed, just like Vengeance instructs in there .nfo.
Anyone?

I fixed it just yesterday without uninstalling it. Ok you have to Disable your internet connection first. wait abot a mint and then start HL2. Hold ESC Key and then click on Load game. it worked for me. Let me know when you try this.

Thanks hasssan, I fixed it accidentally. I put the CD Upgrade patch on, ran the offline reg and disabled my net, which worked. So thought OK, CD Uprade fixed my problem. Read your message, left the net enabled and tried again and got the same error. Disable the net and everything is good. The moral of the story, no net.
