No 1920x1200??? What a fuckup. Don't they know that most people buy 24-inch monitors?

@crowley: 1920x1200 would habe black bars as well. The console renders only 16:9, rendering games at 16:10 would require (slightly) more power and is impossible to achieve.

yes, i know. 360 outputs all 16:10 res with black bars...
and yes ,it sucks that theres no 1920x1200. so i still run 1920x1080. my 24" iiayama applies a little bit stretching to 16:10, but its nota big step from x1080 to x1200.

It looks better in 1920x1080 stretched as 1680x1050 with black bars

mhh perhaps the 360 cant render more then 1920x1080 ?!

One Question :
How long does it take to dump the Iso on the HDD to play it , on the PS3 is like 10 to 20 mins

I installed farcry2 and went back to check after 8min and it was done. So under 8 min. The install size was listed as 4.7GB

Dang how did FarCry 2 get compressed? I installed Fable II and it takes up 6.8gb.

I thought I'd wait 'til the 19th.... How dumb was I?
I just got too excited and finally installed it. After a couple hours fucking with it, here it comes:
It's really sharp and smooth! I'm loving the look of it! Smile

As for installing games on HDD, here's what I've experienced so far (GTA IV, GOW2, NG2, FC2, DS) :
I've noticed faster loadings on GTA IV but that's about it.
It takes around 10 min to install a game (even NG2 with a pretty small rip if you guys remember) and around 6.8 GB on the HDD. Somehow, FC2 takes only 6min 30s for a 4.5GB install...weird...
And I didn't notice faster textures loading in GOW2 for instance.

To sum it up, I'd say it's a really good feature we have here since the least it can do is considerably reducing the noise of the box (no disc spinning).
On another hand, it's a shame that a 20 GB HDD is a real restricting factor.
And again : the price of those stand-alone HDDs!!!?!

The X360 renders ONLY 1280x720, all other resolutions are accomplished by interpolation ("scaling").

That differs from game to game. Most games render at 720p but not every game.

you can clone certain brands of 2.5 HDD to use on the xbox 360. You need the security info ripped from say an original 20. 60 or 120gb xbox 360 HDD. Info cloned will of course determine size, so if you clone your 20gb original that is the max size you can use on any size HDD. MS will ban people with cloned HDD info if detected I believe.

Okay besides in Fable, the install feature doesn't do anything at all. Load times are the same and the game's performance is the same. And my drive is already insanely quiet so theres pretty much no difference in sound from when I play from the disc and when I play from HDD. What's the point in wasting 6GB of HDD space if it has no real benefit?

It's probably because it encourages people to spend fat, disgusting amounts of cash on 120gig 360 drives. It also helps to shut up the "z0mg ps3 haz hord drive installzzzz and 360 doesn't. kekeke we win console war" people.

Just a theory, though.

No, some Games like Halo are fully 1080p!

Also it doesnt Matter if its scaling or not....Maximum Output is 1920x1080..and this sucks!
And its sucks that the new 16:10 Resolutions are with black bars, it should be fully in 16:10 and not only this "16:10 compatible Output" simply with black Bars to correct the AspectRatio.
1680x1050 with black bars looks like crap on my 24" 1920x1200 Display.
1920x1080 scaled to 16:10 fby the Tft looks by far better

Nice try, but take a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halo_3#Graphics. It doesn't even do 720p, let alone 1080p. I hate when people spout baseless lies just to back up their arguments.

Halo 3 renders at 640p only.
Real 16:10 without black bars is technically impossible: most games run at 720p (many on a lower res and Soul Calibur 4 runs at a higher res). If you wanted one if this games to output 16:10, they would need to be rendered at 1280x800 instead of 1280x720. This would be an resolution increase of 11,1%. Since most X360 game are optimized to take full advantage of the system at 720p, there is no computing power left to increase the resolution to 800p.

Ah, youre right. However. There are Games with native 1080p output on 360.
But only 2 games [native 1080p] Boogie Bunnies [Xbox Live Arcade]
[native 1080p] Street Home Court
[native 1080p] Virtual Tennis 3

lol speaking of txture issues. I had a car going so fast in GTAIV once that I actually got it to a part in the city before it had time to load any textures. Was all flat grey models. I giggled
