has anyone encountered this before? i've tried 3-4 times and every time it restarts my computer.. also tried installinga newer version of daemon but the same happens.
like everyone else i'm using the release from RLD.
help would be appreciated... thx.

gonna try and post results.
edit: tried with alcohol and the same shit happens.
specs: P4 3.2, 1.5gb ram, 7800GS.
the game doesn't even stay mounted for 2 seconds before the comp crashes and forces a restart.
it's not that big of a deal but i still wanted to try fallout.. guess i'll just have to wait till i get another rig.

hmm... tried it with red alert 3 and it stilll happens.. basically i mount for a couple of seconds and right before it starts up it crashes and restarts.
so i guess i can rule out it being the game's and/or daemon/alcohol fault... could it have something to do with the auto installer?
the last game i played was devil may cry 4 3-4 months ago and i could mount/install it without problems...
anybody got any suggestions?

disable the auto-start feature. If that helps, the problem lies with windows most likely.
if it doesnt, install a newer version of daemon (or at least the sptd driver). If you got the latest, uninstall, reinstall.

What's your motherboard and OS? Might be a problem with your SATA drivers.

no idea on mobo.. i'm using XP pro/SP2.
anyways like i said before the last game i played without a hitch was DMC4.. can't really remember anything major that's been changed on my comp from that time till now that would cause these crashes.
also i tried mounting an older, much smaller game.. warcraft 3 and the startup/installation screen popped up and worked perfectly.
this is weird.

ok i disabled the auto run feature and i succesfully mounted the game... the problem is that as soon as i clicked the manual setup/install option it crashed and restarted.
guess we know the problem now.. does anyone have experience with how to fix the program that manages installation/setup of games? it seems to work fine when i install regular applications and older games... but with fallout/RA3 it just dies.
maybe i'll try to redownload COD4 or bioshock.. like DMC4 they worked without a hitch a while ago.
until then... any suggestions?

mmmh, that is always an option
you could also check if you have processes running in the background that might interfere with your installation routine. Like burning-software stuff, other little software helpers or anti-virus programs / firewall.

no it's not that.. i always keep the bare minimum of applications running.. no software is running and i've disabled my firewall and Avast haven't posed any problems when i played other games a couple of months ago.
anyways seeing as i'm gonna format just wanna ask a quick question.. when formatting it's only the drive u choose to format that gets erased right(of course i'm choosing the one that has windows in it)?
i've got 3 drives hooked up and don't wanna touch the remaining two.
i've done it before but such a long time ago that i forgot lol.
anyways thx for the suggestions.

yeah, when you install you have the option to choose the partition and / or disk which you want to format and use for installation. If in doubt, unplug the other drives you want to keep (else go by the partition sizes to take the right one. Or the drive letters, but they sometimes are different at the format screen for whatever reasons...)
