Everything? Well, i like The Witcher very much but at the end its not an open world rpg like oblivion, gothic or fallout. Its story driven with side quests to pull play time. Its by far nothing compared to the feeling i have in Fallout 3, to be what i want to be and to do what whenever i want to do.

Some prefer freedom, some fast paced action. But at the end we are all pirates. We delete the shit, play the good stuff, save our money for the really important things like cigarettes, alcohol and oc our girls....

Yeah I agree with Joutilas that if the game are like oblivion when it is about killing the monsters.. why have gun skills at all? a friend of mine went to the gates in oblivion at lvl 1 and finished the game.. I am a fallout lover (1 and 2 and tactics anyway) and I like to marry the game.. but .. if they havnt done the game better than the mistake oblivion and that it is possible to kill the boss at the end at lvl 1 (if there are any) I would say it sucks big time.. but I will keep on playing the game just for the fallout feeling .. but now it is time for sandman.. night *edit* hmm maybe we should complain to the company about killing big monsters at low level and that they will change it.. but you who are really complaining about the game are you playing at very hard?

I don't have that issue.
Instead I get this one (about two hours of gameplay): "The ati2dvag display driver has stopped working normally."

8.10 drivers =P

Really enjoying this.. Not too far in but going to buy the PC version after checking out both this and the 360 versions; mainly because the landscape at 1680 is fantastic...

The gameplay kind of reminds me of Resident Evil for some reason, the whole hoarding and conserving ammo thing...

Dear god this is retarded, entered this "Flak and Shrapnel's Room" in Rivet City, and as soon as I walked in the door shut close and I'm locked in. I don't have enough skill in lockpicking to get outta there either. Will the room's owners come back and unlock the door sometime or am I fucked?

I won't even go there it's a matter of taste, for me the Witcher is a work of art and Fallout a fun game if you use vats and blow limbs off, free roam not really, Gothic 3 has one huuge map and you can go anywhere that's free roam.

I bought the Witcher and it's well worth it I try and support the good stuff.

But Witcher is not better because you bought it. A game you bought is always "better" than a game you pirated. People force themselves to play the games they bought. They force themselves to like the game because theres no money back if the game is pure shit. Piracy is fair in this case.

O lord in heaven I bought it because I loved it, learn to read. Jesus Christ Laughing I really hope you didn't buy F3 because that would certainly explain why you keep raving about it.

So, I finished the stuff on the vault, got to Megaton walked around a bit and got out. I start seeing my framerate dip, exit the game and check the video memory usage in Rivatuner; after a bit of tweaking, I launch the game, and wander around to see if the game was running without any kind of stuttering.

So, I start walking over some hills ( just outside the vault ) and spot a nearby building; to my surprise, inside, there was a mini nuke... just laying there in a shelf. I grab it, get out of there and get promptly ambushed by a couple of raiders. After dispatching them ( 3-4 gunshots for each one, not bad for a lvl 2 I guess ) and searching the bodies, a surprise that tops the first one: one of them was actually carrying a Fatman ( mini nuke launcher ). Shocked

A bit strange to find such a weapon ( even if it's in a pretty bad condition ) right at the beggining of the game, but still a nice surprise.

But it sure aint no Witcher.

What is Witcher doing better here? Open World vs Consequences; If you try to get the best of both worlds you get Gothic 3. Simulating reality isnt easy! Btw. if you accept that, Gothic 3 is a damn good game... Fallout 3 too.

But gaming becomes Hollywood. Today, the hardest task for your brain is gamepad != chips eating because fat on fingers....

Biggest disappointment for me was the realization that bad actions don't have bad consequences. This is what The Witcher really shined on. If you take the consequence our of choice, it becomes mere calculation (=which choice gives the best loot/exp/whatever).

I'm still hoping that some decisions I've made early in the game will have an effect in the endgame, but prospects are quite bleak, methinks.

Another negative aspect on the choice-consequence is F3 that the choices are way too polarized to extremes. When I first saw some of the discussion choices, I actually thought that they were sarcastic remarks.

Dunno, maybe the average gamer doesn't want to strain their brain with such thoughts. Is it more fun to roleplay idealistic johnny-do-good in shining armor (or his polar opposite)? Evil guy! Killing O.K.! Positive karma awards!

But on more positive note, I really dig the songs playing in the radio (though the disc jockey is a douchebag)! We need more warped-up retro games.

I'm more interested in how to power up the mainframe in the first place. I checked all over the place and in the nearby power station, but no luck. If you happen to know that, please share.

Me...

Combat plays a bit like Deus Ex with low stats, so you don't target your shots particularly accurately, but you use objects to position yourself in and out of the badguys line of sight to get a shot off and withdraw to safety....

Doesn't bother me the degree that stat vars dictate outcomes, still fun, just deep in different ways imo..

No, its because you wrote:

And I found "everything" worth a question. Whatever, i wrote about intellectual overwhelming before so this discussion is done for me.

Did you add any skill points to weapons? Does it affect combat if you do combat manually?

Some definitely do. I've done some pretty fucked up things (including eating corpses (with the cannibalism perk)) and if you're seen, or people know about it (some things are impossible for people not to know... eg. if you do something to Megaton... <.< >.>).

But there's bounty hunters, dissapointed dads, people who could've been henchmen not signing up, etc. - so there's plenty of consequences.
