why would you care about the scores that GS users give??
jesus christ, man. have you read the comments there?
if you're gonna go down that way, next thing you'll know is you'll be chatting with gametrailers commenters and arguing about whether something "sucks balls" or "it's awesome".
Don't read the bloody commentaries just look at the average scores, I find it more reliable than the pro-reviews average scores, a LOT more reliable in fact, maybe the gamers play more games and know the real score so to speak better than reviewers. And I was talking about fallout metacritic user scores.
User scores for this game are 100% worthless. All it takes is a few dozen people still upset that Bethesda ran over their dog and wishing Black Isle would rise from the grave rating it as 0 to bring it down. And that's exactly what has happened.
In a perfect world every user who played the game would rate it and people who haven't wouldn't. But that's not the case. There are people who are vindictive and have an agenda and would love nothing more than to see this game fail. Too bad it isn't going to.
Most everyone who has actually played it loves the fuck out of it.
I call bullshit on that one, just because you like it and are a fan of this game doesn't mean the rest should like it as well, I would give this game 7.7 objectively, the map is a huge step back from Oblivion, much more linear you can't go anywhere and are always blocked by stupid buildings and you have to go threw the metro.
Haven't touched any of the previous Fallout games and I'm hating this one. It feels realy shitty and low budget. I can steal everything without anyone giving a fuck. Game story feels boring and doesn't attract at all, and the graphics are outdated, even oblivion looked better.
I'm still playing it trying to like it.

Hmm "offline profile" what does that mean? the game are not a multiplayer game right?.. I havnt found any multiplayer option anyway I read something about an offline profile earlier on page 76 or where it was. I am tired and need t go to sleep so I didnt had the time to read it all.. steal everything? I have seen npc's attack me when I am trying to steal from them so I dont understand what you are talking about.. maybe they didnt attacked you because you hada high stealth or pickpocketing skill and maybe there will be new patches for the game so you can play it harder.. and .. are you playing on the hard ? the game starts with normal if you dont change it

You can grab anything with z and carry out, then just pick it up.

I visited the three places but can't find any sign of the family. At one location there were two ghouls, one had alot of scorpions and the cinema just had one Super Mutant walking about. So where is teh Family?
Are you guys having trouble with ammo? It's really scarce and the armory in Megatin is always locked. I wouldn't have the caps for it anyway.

Game is definitely GOTY for me. Thanks Beth for this game. I started thinking iam becoming old. I was so bored by the recently released games, always the same shit in a new package. Was not able to play longer than one to two hours until i felt i miss something in real world. But not with Fallout 3. Here i have the feeling i miss something if i do not play. Like now, simply cant wait to finish that supplies chicks handbook or explore that nuka cola fab. Last time i had this feeling was GRID. Mass Effect had it too but it was too short for a real rpg.
As for the fo3 haters: If i "hate" or dislike a game, i uninstall and skip, ignore everything about it. I do not read the threads about the game or write anything, except maybe a final review why i hate it. Why do some idiots try to convert people who actually like fo3? Is it
a: they hate it because they need a reason to justify their piracy.
b: they are intellectually overwhelmed but try to prove the opponent. This includes they never heard of the fact "tastes are different".
Enough.
Ps. "Personality Ignore this" is the best perk to spend xp in real life at least on the internet...

Spoiler:
close to the ghouls, in one of those couple of rooms, there are some radioactive barrels. the entrance to the part where the family hides is through the sewer. you might want a suit with radioactive protection for this..
is it possible to drive any vehicles in the game? in fallout tactics you could do it sometimes I wonder now because I found a motorcycle tank and handbrake.or is that only for trading?
is it possible to unload the weapons that you have found? if not they should do so it is possible later because I like to trade weapons but not the ammo in it :S

Ammo is always seperate, selling the guns doesn't mean you're selling ammo.

Not necessary. Weapons and Ammo is always separated.
After a few hours of scouring the wastes and killing things, I've already lost my interest in the game. The dialogue, story and characters are simply too bland. The game tries so hard, but falls far too short. It's shallow and soulless.
Difficult moral choices with real consequences, humor and the discoveries... they're all gone. So as I'm blowing heads off supermutants at level 5, I find myself no longer caring for this.
Just like Oblivion, for me, it's more a chore than a exciting gaming experience. And it's a damn shame - the game does after all have quite a bit of promise. But it sure aint no Witcher.

Yeah.. ammo is sucking i don't know what a have to do to open that armory [/quote]
it's thought to be that way, at least in the beginning. simple solution: dont fuckin waste it! beat down weak enemies, don't use autofire, use VATS and go for the head and most importantly: close in on the enemies. btw, when you get to the point in the game when you fight mutants on a regular basis, you'll have enough anyway. oh yeah, and build a rock-it launcher asap, that thing has insane attack stats and you can use every pos item for ammo. besides, nothing beats shooting a guy's head off with a tin can or a billard ball
I was actually positively surprised by this game. I found Oblivion lacklustre and really loved the old Fallouts. Have only played some six hours so far but on a scale from 1 to 10 I'd give this 7.5 so far (While Oblivion is 5, Far Cry 2 is 4.5, Fallout 1 is 9 and Modded Stalker is 8 for comparison.) If Bethesda releases a toolkit somewhere down the road this might turn out to be a kickass game. When it comes to basic design this really is a step up for Bethesda.

Well, I wouldn't say that the original games became famous for their soul, or character. They became famous because of how open-ended they were, and for the awesome atmosphere. They really felt like RPG:s to the core.
Now, since you have played only a small part of the game, I think it's a bit unfair to judge it. It does pick up (in my opinion) in the later stages of the game. And does a fair good job at picking up on the theme and atmosphere (although sometimes it does miss the mark). I don't want to spoil it, but one of my absolute favourite moments in this game is in the main quest when your father is lost. There is a segment there which has the atmosphere of the original spot on.
The biggest issue I have story-wise with this game is that it's a bit too much Hollywood. They don't really work on suspense, instead they feed you "the good stuff" too soon (which you already touched on). And when they do it too often you get ... disensitized and it becomes a bit bland because of that.
I wouldn't say that it's so bad as they are saying it is on NMA, but I wouldn't say it's so good as the originals either. Since I had very low expectations, I have to say that some parts of this game are quite impressive. While I may not be impressed with the game, it's still entertaining, atmospheric, gory, politically incorrect (at times) and post-nuclear war fun.
What is Witcher doing better here? Open World vs Consequences; If you try to get the best of both worlds you get Gothic 3. Simulating reality isnt easy! Btw. if you accept that, Gothic 3 is a damn good game... Fallout 3 too.
But gaming becomes Hollywood. Today, the hardest task for your brain is gamepad != chips eating because fat on fingers....
