Wondering about a quest..
Spoiler: | Where in heck can I find the Family? Been to all the 3 places that old dude on the highway bridge says, but not a sign of them. |
On a sidenote, I love this game Only downside is the awkward character movement in 3rd person, feels so stiff.

Next I bet I'll be using the god mode trick and then soon after it will be shelved.
So FO3 was ANOTHER of this years STEAMING PILE OF CRAP RELEASES. Not a single game worth playing has come out this year - in my opinion. Street Fighter 4 will be the first game to come out this year - that will be worth playing... |
Hmm, that actually sounds like the post-apocalyptic atmosphere im looking for (didn't play the game yet).

How can a shadow be boring, or on the other side, entertaining?

I have to admit that it's nowhere near as good as 1&2, but it's also not as bad as most games we've seen this year. The game still feels weird to me because of the Oblivion engine; the game itself doesn't bore me half as much as Oblivion did though

Easy:
Spoiler: | Go back to the Metro station, and in the room with the two ghouls, head to the back left room with the radiated stuff; open the hatch and jump into the sewers. You'll come across some animals, and once you get into the metro tunnels, there's booby traps everywhere, so watch yourself. Take the first left and walk all the way through to the end and you'll find the Family. |

Idiots how can you complain the gameworld is lifeless and without any colors. This isnt my little pony or some pos. The world has been nuked serveral times up the ass. No shit its lifeless and without atmosphere.
Im loving this game, to me its nothing like what I imagined an Oblivion with guns would be. Great fun and with a few tweaks itll be goty for sure.

And qrdel about headshots: they exist and they do more damage, but if you want to one shot kill everything go play a pure FPS. | Yeah I found one but he didn't want to join as I am to 'good' for him apparently this game forces you to be evil.

Funny how some people are complaining about weapons being fucked. It's an RPG, everything depends on your stats. You're not supposed to get headshots with your 'l33t' skillz, and if you get it enemies aren't supposed to die right away.
As for the world, yes it's empty and barren. I thought that was supposed to be Fallout, a desolate wasteland. When you turn of the radio and walk a bit you really feel like you're in the middle of nowehere, that's how it's supposed to be. Would it be better with pink unicorns trodding past?
JBeckman, I know you posted your entire ini, but can you post the most important changes?

He is right, I couldn't run Oblivion until I uninstalled ffdshow it had some problems, I haven't used that crap in ages.

Bethesda is going strong it seems, TES 5 potentially in 2010.
(It's not everything but hopefully Bethesda will improve the visuals a bit from what we have now as F3 is pretty similar to the visual style in Oblivion, kinda hard to explain but it'll be a pretty ugly game otherwise - that said the X360 and PS3 aren't planned for replacement until 2012 at the earliest so both consoles will be quite old by then.) |
All I'm asking here is that they use a new engine, somehow I have a feeling that's to match to ask from lazy Beth

How are they lazy? A lazy studio would just buy a license to an engine and they wouldn't even think about RPG's.

the world looks bland, yes. in a postapocalyptic way.
too few encounters? fuck yes, i was afraid of the game crawling with enemies. that shit would get old pretty fast. same mistake that stalker CS did, as opposed to SoC. they filled the world with people so it stopped feeling lonely and stalkery. it felt like counterstrike.
and content stretching? the sidequests are there if ya want to see more of that world. no one's making you do them. i didn't do any damn sidequest in mass effect and it made the game enjoyable. thankfully the sidequests from f3 are actually fun.
i don't mind the oblivion flavour, considering that it's sprinkled with enough radioactive dust to make your taste buds glow in the dark.
also: "this years STEAMING PILE OF CRAP RELEASES. Not a single game worth playing has come out this year".. you don't really like games, do you? not anymore, at least. seen quite a few of this sort of ex-gamers. oh well. i ain't gonna try to convince my grandma either that cellphones have a point and that video games aren't just for kids.
anyway, you're fucking the game up by spawning objects. why not take a break from it, play something else for a while. you might enjoy it again in a few days, eh?

if you ain't too sensitive to various stenches.. yeah, it's possible that you might enjoy it

that looks god damn excellent. and surprising. i didn't think there would be this much variety in the game.

Damnit, the game is already over =(
Wow, that was short. *sighs*
After I got over the "Oblivion with guns"-feel, it actually is kinda good.
I also think fisk should be unbanned.

Spoiler: | I found the transsexsual psychotic dr braun to a very 'colorful' charecter, theres a lot of that in this game, charecter depth that is. The charecters aren't bland as in Oblivion. |

Now if they make a bloody new engine they can prove me wrong but they won't.

I have a GeForce 7900GTO. Do anyone of you know if I can use both HDR and Antialiasing at the same time. I couldn't in Oblivion.
I seem to be able to select both but I am a little uncertain if they both work. If I select HDR the lighting becomes better but I THINK it looks like I loose the AA?

All the things you describe are Fallout and taking them out would make the game a completely different thing. If you're expecting great architecture, lively landscape, colorfull areas, you should play another game. It's a Fallout game afterall, a lazy developer wouldn't even touch a license of Fallout's stature. As for the graphics, it all looks great here. You might not like the style, but it's supposed to be a wasteland like said earlier. If I can run a game with 1440x900, everything on high, 2xAA and 15x AF on my 8800GT, it's all fine. It's not a shooter, RPG's will always have lesser graphics compared to a game like Crysis. Hell, any game to date will look less compared to something like Crysis.
Voice-acting is great, not soulless and dull like most games. I agree they could use more or better actors, but hearing the same voice here and there doesn't bother me. As long as they sound 'real', it's all fine.
As for the engine, it's tweaked and can still go head to head with a good looking FPS. Yes it will be outdated in 2010, but I doubt they'll use Gamebryo again by then. You're talking like they're using it for decades already, many devs use their trusty engine for years with tweaks. What dev develops or even buys a new engine with every new project? That would be totally dumb and inefficient unless you don't trust your engine.

You shouldn't even attempt playing this game without HDR, because HDR actually makes it look ok, where without HDR looks like 2001 game. Lose AA and have HDR on.
