fixed it. I forgot long ago a problem with oblivion and the audio codecs for my digital video camera. Renamed the file and game plays fine.
intel ultra 7 265k, 64gb ram, 3070

Bleh, played the game for some time and at first I really liked it. Then, when going to the surface I noticed one thing - the game looks... awful >.<. But that's something I can at least cope with.
I can't manage, however, with disabled shooting system (wth is this? headshots don't exist at all with basic weapons, I need to hit the target with 5 bullets to take him down).
Also, what's with this paralytic movements? My character seems to be floating above the surface. I had to zoom in the tpp view almost to the extend that I couldn't see half of the screen just to bare with it...
The story really doesn't make for programmers' mistakes... I am so disappointed with F3...

The Avenged version is like almost non existent on both the Unet and the Inet. Found 2 torrents but no way I dl at 1.5 kB/s  .

To all the people saying the game is bad, major letdown, etc.

Avg score of 94 out of 17 reviews. Sorry, but you don't get an avg of 94 with a game that is bad, average, or even really good. A game that scores that high is considered stellar. You may not like it but the rest of the world does.

So far no crashes, but I just left the Vault and am on my way to do the Supermarket quest (sort a 1-2h in the game).
Had one crash when exiting the game ONCE. |

i tried the game its not that bad, but its of course ions away from the classics fo 1 and 2 were.
first thing i noticed is a propension to crash here and there, especially in megaton.
other than that, i cant see shit in the wastes when its night..dunno if theres a perk to fix that
got a question if you get bloody mess perk does the enemy go boom for each tiny bullet he receives? is it on critical? or on death shot?
and comon disabling a nuke with less than 30 in explosives...hmmm

i had one crash on exit, too. ...and one ingame in the city of megaton when exiting the tavern. using the reloaded. maybe it's an ingame fault but he tells: the ###.exe found a prolem and have to exit or something. therefore i think it's maybe a problem of teh cr@ck.

The fact that I don't like it and that it suxx for me is only MY opinion. I'm not convincing you to think the same way. You like it, it's fine. reviewers do like it too, it's fine. I don't like it and I stated why. Fullstop.

Thats strange, I had the opposite reaction, I thought "wow" when I got to the surface. Maybe a settings thing? I'm running mine max everything with 4x antialias and 15 samples anistrophy.
Also, you did use the V.A.T.S system when shooting? (ie, pause action and select parts to shoot at). I managed to do headshots pretty often.

No it's not the settings thingy. I'm also running the game on ultra with AA and AS and 1680x1050 (pretty good engine imho) but it sucks anyway (guess that's because I'm used to sharp textures from other games and smooth movement).
I tried VATS, for first few times it's fun. Later on it gives almost no skill to take down multiple enemies... >.<

So what? Halo 1 and Halo 2 had major scores too and they're a piece of shit ( judging from the PC versions ). I'll do my own reviews, thank you. 
Got out of the vault just now, performance is pretty good, even better than what I got with Oblivion and without any kind of stuttering. But now that I'm out, I can understand some complaints regarding the poor textures; the game still looks pretty good, though.

Playing the Eng/Rus version, so far I've encountered no crashes at all. The thing that bothers me and its a very minor thing, is that some textures seem to be rendered in low resolution and the guns kinda look crappy. But overall the game is really good.

Guns looking like shit in 1st person mode is my biggest issue with the game, and 3rd person is so awkward.

Game runs ok on my ancient rig , the shooting system is a joke and needs an overhaul , twice in that first-ish mission from megaton i went to find the supermarket , took a headshot twice from very very close range using vats both times the bullets entered the head of the person and both times they survived and continued shooting ( 2 shots in the head at least. )
Today it is my turn to be AN knobhead

I must say, that now that I have played about 4 hours of the game. It is almost at the point where I consider shelving it (yes... I bought it out of impatience). The world looks bland with very boring shadows and "colors".
It has a dead and lifeless atmosphere and there are too few encounters with enemies. I haven't yet found anyone to join my party in the game so it seems spaced out like a mini MMO in terms of content "stretching" which is always gay.
Compared to Fallout 1 and 2... Well, I've not noticed yet that I have been playing a Fallout game... The Oblivion stench is oozing through everything in the game which makes it all very very boring and uninteresting.
I've even begun using the console unlock trick on objects combined with killing several npcs in Megaton and looting their stuff - just so that something happens...
Next I bet I'll be using the god mode trick and then soon after it will be shelved.
So FO3 was ANOTHER of this years STEAMING PILE OF CRAP RELEASES. Not a single game worth playing has come out this year - in my opinion. Street Fighter 4 will be the first game to come out this year - that will be worth playing...
