We’re following BioWare’s KOTOR example, says EndWar boss
Quote: |
bisoft Shanghai creative director Michael de Plater has told VG247 that his team’s take on RTS with EndWar follows a path BioWare forged with Knights of the Old Republic and the RPG genre, in that his franchise will lead on console before making its way to PC.
“It’s not that we don’t want to do a PC version, and it’s not that it wouldn’t be a good PC game,” he said, when asked why EndWar wasn’t leading on PC, as was traditional in the RTS field.
“I think that really we’re kind of following in the footsteps of BioWare in regards to what they did on RPGs with Knights of the Old Republic, where they had their PC background and experience with Neverwinter Nights and other RPGs, then when they did Knights of the old Republic they shifted the camera down, used their control scheme, made it much more cinematic and used the Star Wars license…
“And then subsequent to that, they could do Knights of the Old Republic on PC and it’s no problem.”
He added: “We’ve basically followed their model.” |
seems the PC version will be good....
BTW,its newer then that news:

It's coming for PC. Ubisoft said they will delay the PC release a couple of weeks due to piracy. They did the same with Brothers in arms: Hells highway.
Other companys will probably follow up on this.

ha, I'd rather this not ever hit PC, they dumbed down and destroyed everything that had the slightest amount of strategy in it. Look at rainbow six. What makes them think they can do an RTS?
It's no different than EA trying to continue the CnC games.
If they can prove me wrong then by all means, I'll buy it if it's good but I have nothing but doubts.
BTW, that trailer was funny.

LOL game is "out" for 360 already, but the main thing is piracy is the reason for PC games failing sales...

Ground Control was good... If they make it G4WL, it should be a great MP strategy.

translation: you'll have to buy the console version, 'cause you're not "tech-savvy" enough to pirate it and you can't wait a bit more for the easily-piratable pc release.
this description might fit quite a lot of people, and the publishers are prolly used to the idea that pc gamers won't buy that many copies to make a simultaneous release worthwhile.

the console has to be modded. not everyone knows how to do it by themselves, or knows where to get it done, or, for that matter, is willing to do something that might break it.
also you lose the warranty, so if you get rrod'ed, you're fucked.
and you might get banned from live.
and you might get pregnant.
if you compare all these hoops with following the instructions from a .nfo file, you'll see that it's not that bad of an excuse.

not all right for me. depend from the kind of DRM and how many triggers they put then. that crackers have to break a DRM and then u can't play is almost useless. look to sacred 2 or red alert 3 anyway they don't have a proper crack and RA 3 then have uncrackables patches

Those that are tech savvy enough to follow the varez releases, are tech savvy enough to replace the badly cracked EXE or DLL with a newer, proper one. On the other hand, those that are total noobs, by the time they find the download and decide to get it (i.e. by the time it comes to emule and public torrent trackers), either cracks are already done properly, or there are million comments of the "ZOMG uploader please fix crack no works waaa" comments that will make them wait and download the proper release. BTW, the former kind of " " people don't know what patches are. They just play the game for what it is.

when devs say that piracy affects pc sales, the are not talking about the 1-2% folks in US and Europe that are downloading them to play on their homepcs. They are talking about the oraganized market in India, China, Russia, Malaysia that gets these games and sells them to any tom dick and harry. Console games havent succeeded that way because even if you buy the disks of these guys, you still need to mod your console. And 90% of console owners still believe modding/hacking your console can damage it and put it out of warranty. There is also the general perception that modding reduces shelf life of the console!!!!
