I think that a game like this one really is better if played on a really hard setting (but one that you can manage with skill, not being insanely hard).

I used to love how hard Fallout and Fallout were. It really fitted well in the theme of a brutal and unforgiving world, where the top priority would be to survive.

Come on guys, give us some input on how Hard "Very Hard" and "Hard" are... Twisted Evil

It's definitively not the same as the older titles but it's still a good game. You can easily take on several opponents at ones, including raiders with "decent" equipment such as sniper rifles and flamethrowers. (There were two with just those weapons outside the vault on the broken highway, got some decent gear and am only level 3.) There's a TON of useless crap to find not including useful crap used to build custom stuff like the rock-it launcher, plates, forks, spoons and a million burned books was found shortly after leaving the game EDIT: Leaving the game starting area. Enemies drop what they have on them, dropped weapons and ammo in F1/F2 but now includes armor so you'll get pretty nice gear rather early though it'll be a bit worn. It's a FPS/RPG mixture, haven't actually needed to use vats and easily kill people by shooting them in the head a few times but VATS is pretty cool so I've tried it a few times. Mature and brutal gameworld (This is a plus point, above stuff can be either good or bad.) with harsh language, gritty environments and dark story elements plus tons of gore and even dismemberment that looks good. (Can't mutilate the torso but say farewell to your head or arms or legs though I miss the "groinshots" I performed in the older titles.) Visuals are worn down and gritty but also rather low-res and "blurry", still looks OK in my opinion especially character models. (Don't expect Crysis or even Far Cry 2 though but gameplay is above those titles in return.) Not that far in the game though but pretty nice overall, few weak areas but it's like that in most titles, can also be pretty evil if you want to or the other way around. (Killed the overseer or did you let him live, what about Amanda or that "Butch" dude? - To name a few examples.) EDIT: Playing on highest difficulty by the way and I don't find it all that challenging, still I save regularly via the console. (Save SAVEGAME or Load SAVEGAME if things go bad) EDIT: Will post a few screens as soon as I'm able to. (Took quite a few, need to sort them and stuff.) yeah but the menu and launchers arent and u have to add a switch to install enlish or mess around with files. maybe im a bit too picky but thought i would wait. plus im not desperate to play this as theres 3 other games im playing at the moment.

I'm also downloading this game via STEAM. If half of the things I read about it are true, it sure deserves my money... And the bad thing is that I also have to buy Dead Space (also worth every penny). The next one is Left 4 Dead and than GTA IV... At least I got to play Farcry 2 and Bully for free...

just to add that typing 'showracemenu' in the console lets you edit your chars appearance, just like in oblivion (Close the console after entering it, oh and it) Per aspera ad astra

Does it also reset your level and other stuff like that? (Haven't tested it, pretty happy with my generic pre-set character with added hair and beard.)

The TL release definately doesn't work, as soon as I start the game with the Trivium crack the game crashes. Thumbs down.

TL release is the Russian clone and I use it myself with said crack. (Crashes on exit but what the hell it works without SF drivers.) By the way that CMD/Bat file isn't needed as the extraction utility will just unpack a data file to a Russian.esp file and then delete it. (Along with the star-force files after copying over the fixed executables.)

yeah i simply installed using the earlier mentioned switch in "run" and then copied over fallout3.exe and fallout3_launcher.exe into game dir, nothing else needed.
