|
 |
so, today i finished my first freaking week of university and it's hard so far,
partly because the professor in one of my more important classes has a rather ... uninteresting style of teaching - he just reads from his book (which i'm going to buy, like most of the class intends to)
the other part that makes it rather hard on me is, i don't have a place to stay in the city my university is in, so i gotta go by train every morning for about 1 1/2 hours.
it's not so bad when my first class is at 10, i get up at 7 and all's fine and dandy
but when the class starts at 8:15 i gotta get up at 5 and that's just plain evil
getting up before 6 o'clock is just too hard on me.
sooner or later i'm gonna have to get me a flat or a room in a dorm or something...
yeah, pretty uninteresting read here but then again, that's why i posted it in the void

Naaaa, uni is not hard. Drink a lot of booze and shag a girl or 2...relax man. Worked for me and look where I am today .
But ok...math, ...I had a couple of teachers that "told" good stories ( if a teacher can drag you in to a subject with a good story, you will get involved, and you will want more of that stuff!, that is at least how it worked for me)...History (yep i love it and delve in to it as much and as often as I can) Religion ( well, I checked them all out and came to the conclusion that there is no God...NONE!), Art (working as a car designer and doing a pretty good job I would say...ask someone else and they will tell you I am crap...NOT )
What else...Language (speak and write Swedish, English, German and Italian)
Anyway the bottom line is this, if you want something REALLY BAD!, you will go there, and you will master it...no matter what!. But you need to know at what you are aiming. Aim for the Stars if that will get U there, but keep focused and don't strain away!.
End of lecture. anyone can do ANYTHING!, if he wants it bad enough!, it works, you better believe it! .

I know what you mean, last year I had this math teacher who did everything by his script, and mathematically strict, which was boooring! So I didn't attend his classes after the first semester. It worked for me because I'm really good with math, but others weren't that lucky...
But then there are other professors who really know what they're talking about and that makes it a lot easier to follow the studies. Hang in there, it's not that hard when you think about it

sooooo.
somebody care to explain to me why i have to prove that x*0= 0?
or shit like that, why do i have to prove things that you get taught in 5th or 6th grade...
noo, now you know those axioms go ahead and use 'em asshole! grrrr...
and somebody else care to explain why i have to know this shit when i study computer science? i looked at the things i'm going to learn in higher semesters and i just don't see any reason for me to know this stuff.
dammit, if that goes on like this (and if i'm going to fail the exam) i'm gonna have to switch to study of english language and literature.
maybe i'm just too dumb for that.

0*x=0, sounds like linear algebra to me... I think that you define vector space or sth like that, you'll find that often in life you learn stuff, that don't really helps you a lot, but in the end you're grateful you have learned them...

the good thing is, you only have to know 50% to pass an exam, you get months of holidays, being drunk is accepted, and people know the answer of your questions in advance, you can rely on people that know everything about a certain aspect and you can hit on every girl you want
When you work, you have to work with idiots, all the good girls are occupied, noone knows the answer to your problems and you are lucky to have 2 complete free days in the weekend and when you fuck up once=fired
so uni isnt that bad, enjoy

If I feel the class has nothing to offer, I don't go to the class except for finals and midterms to get it out of the way. Otherwise I attend lectures that genuinely interest me/teach me something interesting.

I can see where you coming from, 99% of my friends from HS went to community colleges which is about 5k$ tops per semester or even year
when its 23k$ there is no fucking around, what is the point of paying so much money if you not gonna attend classes anyway

Exactly. But most people around here seem to just do it to appease their parents... wrong approach to take.
