Such a picturesque, bueatiful, colourful game! My first time in Bower Lake and my jaw was on the floor for hours. It immediatly captures the fantasy mood and had me engrossed from the start. In fact, I played this game for near 16 hours straight after getting it! I don't even know what else to say. In alot of ways it's wholly Fable, except everything was built upon and made better. Fable itself wasn't a bad game, but it had it's flaws. Fortunately the sequel really focused on what made Fable so unique and enjoyable, and then some.
My biggest complaint would be the lack of options. No controller customization. No sensitivity adjustment. No map in the main screen (which is nice for immersiveness, but annoys the hell out of me to press start all the time). The spell selection is awkward. Can't map favorite expressions/potions to the context buttons. They don't use all the features of the controller. Would it have been too hard to map R3 (sorry PS2fag...the right stick button) to bring up a wheel for potions/food/whatever so that you can push in the stick, pick something and release it...think hotkey system.
Despite all that though, the game is solid, and great fun. The lack of armour is interesting, and gives more focus to making uniquely dressed characters, but I find that the clothing options are too limited. Well, I have more to say, but most of it's been covered so I'll save the walls of text for another day
Spoiler: | I just finished my 10 years in the Spire...wow that was a tough one for me. I'd been playing a predominately good character, and I was at a loss with how to act. I had gone in with the impression of fitting in with all the evil, so having to watch those poor guys starve was torture. I couldn't blow my cover though...had to impress the Commendant.
Well, too bad in the end it didn't mean shit. |

Started my 2nd play through last night ( gonna be evil )
Didn't realize that one of the childhood decisions would have such dire consequences

I can't comment about a pure mage, but I've been using Will quite alot and it's great. Using Will only you'll mostly get Will XP, so it should be possible to upgrade most spells to the limit. I like the spells, it all looks great. I would say it's worth buying, if you liked Fable 1. It's Fable 1, but squared if you understand what I mean. Anyone who remotely liked Fable 1, will love this game. And I believe it has enough replay value.

I remember liking fable 1 more, but I haven't really hit the epic part of the story yet. I will post a review when i finish. Only playing GOW2 and Fable2 ATM so i don't get side tracked with too many games.

I wish this game was harder/had different difficulties. The game is so easy once you have Master equipment.

i bought this game and i thinks its not awesome, but very good. but one little thing was very frustating.
i take the offer from the ass. guild and had to kill someone in a pub.
so i walked, backstabed him and for this moment, guards appear and killed me .. uhm ... six times? i mean, i killed one guard, the second, the third and even the fourth, but they magically respawn.
thats fucked me up & i played GoW2 :>

Just get the Strange release, it's region free. There are no PAL and NTSC anymore, all games are HDTV and the releases are mislabeled IMO.

Really? I noticed such things with different languages but never with different video formats.

wow. You're like, the worst assassin ever. Wouldn't it be easier to befriend your target, then get them to follow you out of the city then kill them outside? Or if you're evil, isn't there a way to scare people into following you?
You aren't Altair...you can't just kill people in public without anyone noticing.

True but still, unendless respawning of guards sucks.

It represents the massive amounts of guards that are keeping the city safe. They don't just POP OUT in front of you, they run in from various streets over time.
There is downtime between each patch of guards you battle, it's not as bad as you're making it out to be.
It seems, what you want, is the ability to completely wipe out a town. Sorry, not happening. ;P

If you're not into clothing etc, you'll only need money for a master rifle and a master sword (or katana). So it depends on your playstyle. I've bought three stores and some houses, after that it wasn't interesting anymore.
