I got the deutsh release. Meaning the one that comes with a scan of the deutsh manual. The game is multilinguage anyway. Don't know if it's the weetman release ... there was no release name.
Anyway, mounted it with latest daemon tools. Runs perfectly fine.
So, quick peek on the game itself, after playing it 1 hour or so.
First let me say that I tried the demo a few month ago, and was a bit disapointed. Bugs, control feeling a bit strange, to much bump maping (wich gave the stone a plastic look). So I launched the game with not much hope.
The story is the sequel to the first. After freeing the sand of time, the prince is hunted by an unkillable beast that keeps the time balance. So you set sail to the time island, where the sand was created; with the idea that if you prevent the sand from being ever created, the beast will leave you.
The game start when your ship is attacked by a horde of monstruous pirates. You'll have a quick tutorial during the first parts of the games. Meaning that text will appear to explain you how to execute some of the main movement. This is not useless, considering that fights are much more complex than is the first. You can now take your openents weapons, to execute varied combos and special attacks. You can throw enemy around, steal there weapons while fighting, launch your 2nd weapon from a distance ...
All that is executed with 4/5 keys, by pressing 2/3 of them in the right order.
Like jump, grab grab, to steal the weapon. jump grab cut, to cut his throath, and so on and so forth. There is really a lot of moves you can perform, so honnestly the gameplay as became alot more technical. But don't fear, it remains fun and fast. Just not as easy as in the first.
The graphic engines is quite clean, for something coming from PS2. Sure, it lacks a bit of polygons, and some textures are a bit blurry. But like in the 1st, a lot of shader effects and filter gives the scenes a quite nice look.
And at leat, it runs fine on my 9700 with everything maxed out. (wich means that it should run OK on smaller rig.)
The design, as you should know from preview/screenshots, is much darker that in the first. It's like the hero looked like alladin from Disney, and is now closer from aragorn in lord ot the ring. Same thing goes for the surrounding, nice but darker than the arabian palace you've left.
All in one, it's very good surprise. As much style, more technic, more difficulty ... after one our of play, I must say I'm convinced.
+ :
*The style
*The fights, harder, more technical.
*The graphic engine, with nice filters and effect.
*The conserved gameplay.
- :
*Save points.
*Could have been nicer if develloped for PC. (low polycount, textures ...) even if the shader are doing a nice work masquing it.
*Camera, still not perfect.

Doesn't work for me either...burning was useless.
No glory in releasing an un-cracked game, shame on them.

Holy shit, look what I found, and best of all, IT WORKS!!!
Prince.Of.Persia.2.MINI-nt
It contains a mini image (19,4 MB) of the CD3 in BIN and CUE format. Unfortunately, It doens´t work at default, but if you convert the image to ISO, then mount it with DAEMON Tools, works OK even with the CLONE CD version!!! |

The one on usenet works perfect, not sure which release that is.
Works like a normal clone, extract mount and play using cd3.

Working releases seem to be originating on usenet and torrent sites a lot nowadays.
It shows what state the scene is in. Is this the beginning of the end?
