Well it's a bloody microsoft trick obviously, update that requires hdd means another wave of people buying premiums and elites and others buying hdd's which translates into more $.

That's right because Arcades came with a 256 MB MU which is enough for the new dashboard.

I seriously doubt they give these away in 'nun-supported' countries and they only support like 10 fucking countries in Europe.

That is what i fear the most.

That would be illegal here in Europe...
They cannot break down your console so it does not read your backups
They can ban you on xbox live if you flash your drive.

Don't be such a pussy mkay, you modded it so take the risks that go with it (if there are any risks), it's not like the xbox costs much anyway.

Same here, Good service at a cheap price! I got mine through an old core console that hadn't worked for years (using for spares). Luckily, I had the console id written down.

A nice preview of the update:

Our preview build allowed us to download games to the console hard disk. The transfer process took less than 10 minutes for The Orange Box. The primary benefits are decreased load times and less noise from the optical drive.

my thoughts are that what they are going after are to the ones that play online and ban them.. | Im not gonna be connected to live that day. And then checking for feedback. |
Im also doing that same thing. Will stay offline for several days.

the biggest problem is probably the newer games will require the update installed to play.. so we never know what we will be installing regarding the danger in off and online play

We can all be scared ducks and waiting till someone is giving it a try but if neccesary i am giving it a try, big deal if they did something about it. They'll somehow think of something to bypass it i hope.

They sent couple of thousands beta invitations (as stated on MN blog), does someone from here have chance to get into the beta program?
We should find such ppl and ask them if they can run games on flashed consoles instead of wondering.
