BTW
I have the xxx.9 catalyst drivers and have downloaded xxx.10 and the hotfix? Should I install only the hotfix since that is a driver or must xxx.10 also be installed?

There's already a few links to tests with both these new ATI hotfix drivers and NVIDIA 180.xx drivers plus one where both are tested. (It was posted a few pages back, ATI a bit faster at DX9 with their 4870 X2 card and 2x GTX260 cards a bit faster at DX10, both setups gives more than playable performance though and there's less than a 5 FPS difference between both brands/cards based on that particular benchmark, other results probably vary a bit.)
Large amounts of water or a big fire are currently the only thing that pushes performance down, playing in fullscreen (3D clock speeds instead of the previous 2D ones I posted while in windowed mode usually sees the FPS over 40 and often a bit around 50)
Great optimizations if you consider how it looks (Though both my own card and the 2xx serie from NVIDIA are extremely powerful.) plus how big the gameworld is, there's some minor "pop-in" seen during the benchmark as LOD levels switch. (More polygon details and more grass for example, pretty visible.) but it's a non-issue.
EDIT: Hotfix includes the full ATI driver and Catalyst Control Center.
(But not the extra stuff.)

The hotfix is a dedicated driver. It's not applied over your current driver install. It's like getting any newly released driver, it's the whole package so do as you would with any driver upgrade.

Far Cry 2 & DX10.1: Official developer statement at PCGH
Author: Kristoffer Keipp (Oct 22, 2008) - The recent rumor about Far Cry 2 using Dx10.1 has been cleared. Ubisoft uses two different approaches to enhance Anti-Aliasing.
Far Cry 2 is using a feature that is supported by DX10.1 and extensions of DX10 used by Nvidia.
In the last couple of days there has been a little confusion about the DirectX version supported by Far cry 2. Now a statement of Vincent Greco, Worldwide Production Technical Coordinator at Ubisoft, was released:
Vincent Greco: "The Ubisoft team wanted to enhance the Anti-Aliasing through the reading of the multisampled depth Z-buffers. This feature was enabled by either using DX10.1 or using a DX10.0 extension supported by NVIDIA DirectX 10 GPU's. Since NVIDIA supports this in their hardware, we were pleased to be able to accelerate this feature. In the case of Far Cry 2, either option will work with similar performance.”
This explains the information we were given during our interview with Cedric Decelle (Lead Programmer) and Dominic Guay (Engineering Director). It is interesting to see that Ubisoft uses some kind of unofficial DX10 extension to utilize the DirectX 10.1 Anti-Aliasing technology. This requires manual programming, since those features are not exposed in the DX10 API as they are in DirectX 10.1. In the end owners of Nvidia and AMD graphics cards benefit from Ubisofts efforts and the faster Anti-Aliasing calculation in Far Cry 2.

So how well does stealth work in this game? I really hated the omniscient enemies in both the unmodded STALKERs.
Also, could anyone with a similar rig as mine post their framerates with everything maxed out @ 1280*1024?
AMD 64 X2 6000+

Incredible, only 3,6gb. That's strange for a new (and big world) game.

It was said on the Gamespot forums a day or so ago from someone who bought the US edition that the retail disc was only 3.6 GB.
(Steam/d2d versions might contain multiple languages or something.)
Been playing for quite a while myself and it's definitively no preview.
It's just misconception regarding the HMV bonus CD (Doubt it's a DVD) with four extra missions and the GameStop unlock code with six extra missions.
(Would be nice to know that code, tried searching some of the files but that could take forever, still it would be nice to have for those of us outside the US, there are Gamestop stores in various locations here as well but from what I've read it's a US exclusive offer only same as the HMV offer is EU only if you choose to have it shipped internationally from the UK.)

The extra missions are on a bonus disc so I doubt it.
(From what I've seen on a few images at least, perhaps they'll leak out on the net later on hopefully along with a unlock code for that main menu option.)

So it's confermed that this Razor release is full game release and not like Assassin's Creed?
