then it's not that shitty, now is it?
no one has hdtvs here, for example. i have friends that make 3 times the average paycheck. and hdtvs are still out of the question. that shit is for celebs and high management sort of people.
and yeah, a lot of people have pcs, but not of the able-to-play-games variety.

What if Piracy is the scapegoat for the big corporate gaming companies to justify there excuse for putting on drakonian DRM on games to discourage pc consumers to switch over to console and to kill off the platform so that they can continue to monopolize on overpriced, micro transaction platforms to maximize profits. Now this is my conspiracy theory that i've concluded can be a possibility. And it got me thinking if as a consumer I were to complain to the consumer rights group about anti-trust/competitive practice on the part of these company's as they are forcing people to go to console and basicaly saying we pay for the product but we dont own it in anyway with limitations I wonder if they were to be investigated and research was done to justify what they are actualy doing I suspect we would find out that they are probably full of shit with their numbers. The reason I suspect this is we have company's like stardock and Valve who have got it right and dont have the issues that the other company's have or so they say they have. There not complaining or crying wolf or playing the blame game. Think about it. I'm not saying Piracy is not a problem but I think the select few elite company's are conspiring to kill off PC gaming.

Is it in Nvidia's and ATI's interest to kill off PC gaming? They have quite an influence in both PC and console markets, but I imagine 90% of their income is from the PC side.
There will always be studios making games for PC's, I couldn't give a shit if the big boys like EA fucked off to consoles for good, it will leave room for the real innovators.

Do you think the hardware manufacturers would accept the big gaming institutions walking away from the PC though? They are quite influential in the way games are made and promoted.
All this crying is pretty pathetic from Bethesda, and I'm sure that deep down they know that if they release the quality game that it will be bought by the same people who would buy it whether they could pirate it or not. I have two copies of Oblivion, on Xbox and PC, yet I pirated it first to try it out, and there is no chance I'm spending on Fallout before I've given it a try.

Developers are still (and will be) making games, applications; and composers/writers making music/movies/series. Why they are still doing that? because they are making MONEY! OF COURSE!
Now, if they want to buy a new Ferrari everyday, that's a different story.

Why are they spending soo much money on customer support in the first place? all they need to do is have on their website a support area with all the issues they know about and have solutions and also having forums for people to make threads and read other threads about their issues.
For the lazy people with no brains I'm sure it's much easier to call a phone number and use their mouth but the majority of us know how to search, read and share our issues to get them solved.
If companys don't want their games pirated they need to release demos and stop hyping up games with photoshopped screenshots and bullshit fake movies that show cut scenes and very little game play. Many companies will tell full blown lies to increase their sales before the game is released and the people who know how this shit works will just pirate the game and 'test' it before making the purchase.
Funcom makers Age of Conan(and other games) is a prime example of a lieing company, they promised soo many things in their game like full Dx10, working sieges, a pvp system and so on and to this day there is still no Dx10 or working sieges and they added a half assed pvp system in the game about 3-4months AFTER the release. But ofcourse nobody pirates MMO's unless you want to be a god on your own private server...
so stop using bullshit tactics to sell your product and people might just might ease up on the pirating.
heres my excuse "fuck you, fuck you and fuck your game, I'll get it for free, beat it, delete it, and move on to the next."

I won't stop pirating. I think buying games is the biggest waste of money on planet earth. I think burning money is better, then spending it on games. Not to mention the hassle of walking to the store and being able to install the game you bought once.
If PC gaming is dying (and god it has been dying for sometime now) let it die already. Just stop all the whining. It's clear that the buissiness model has to be changed. Out with the old in with the new. And if it dies completely it will be one distraction less...
There is a person dying of hunger in Africa, there is a person in Russia getting stabbed and there is a game dev using money/job cuz of piracy. I don't fucking care about the first two, so why should i care about him?

You're missing my point, I sure can afford buying all 3 consoles+ games whenever I want. I see the look on some on my friends faces after getting all hyped, and buy a PS3 game, just to be disappointed by how crappy the game was, or at least they didn't like it and it's just collecting dust. I HATE THAT!! I like to test the crap out of the game first, then if I like it I go buy it; as simple as that. I did buy tons of pc titles that I enjoyed. The same goes for movies, I download tons of movies and I'd ONLY like maybe 5%, I then go out and buy the DVD.
When I browse a torrent list of the latest movies for example, I don't care about thier IMDB's score and crap, I download a bunch of em, watch em, then decide. I like it this way, but they want me to buy more crappy movies, get pissed, they take my money that they'd have never even dreamed of taking from me if it wasn't for p2p and stuff, you dig?

You download games, you don't pay the companies that need money to make good new PC games and then you wonder why there are no more good games. Making good game cost tons and tons of money, they don't have that money coz no one bought previous PC games they made. They sell shit load of console games, they have shit load of cash to make new console games, and so they make them. It's pretty simple really, the faster you realize that piracy is killing PC gaming the better. I don't care if you continue to never buy even the best games but you have to stop being so fucking ignorant about piracy not killing PC gaming. *facepalm*
And I mean all the companies not just bethesda.

They dont have to have any customer support at all , all they have to do is make their products work out of the box.
I buy a tv from sony, i plug it in , it doesnt work , i send it back and get a new one or refund, Games ???? no fuckin chance tough shit big boy thats your own fault for buying our shitty product , thats one of the reasons pc games maybe declining. Number TWO to play our £30 game you have to spend £xxx.xx upgradeing your pc , wait! i have to spend 2,3,4 x the cost of the game to upgrade my pc to be able to play it ??? fuck you dev , the truth is pc users have become wise , the problem is devs still think we're thick.
And on top of all this the greedy bastards are all moving to consoles, why is this ? piracy ? no! less work more profit, if they only had to make games for one pc worldwide theyd be making killer games for pcs but they dont , they have to make games that are compatable with as many pcs hardware as possible thats the only way to maximise sales , instead theyd rather make them for one pc alone eg the xbox ( you know what i mean) make for 1 = less work that compatability for thousands.

Not sure why nobody has developed a security system that is completely draconian/nazi hardcoded dynamic server authentication for the first six months then de-regulates to a standard security key thereafter...
Surely most of the money of videogames is made in quite a small window before they devalue massively anyway, especially PC games..
It would overcome the - 'I won't be able to play it when i'm 110 argument', and also save the developer from having to devote servers for authentication after the initial launch as well..

The problem with the recent DRM I suspect that's pissing people off is not the DRM itself it's the limitations they put on the installs. To the PC user it's basicaly saying please buy this blank dvd for 60$ and if it fucks up not my problem use it as a paper weight.

Bah, Bethsoft/Zenimax is more and more starting to look like EAxis Mk2. They have shit support for their products, a crappy micro-transaction philosophy and the worst fucking hype machine outside of dear old goodball Molyneux. When awesome old-school designers like Ken Rolston leaves a company due to disagreements there's obviously something wrong with their design philosophy too. Good riddance I'd say if they left the PC well alone.
