Sounds like very optimized and well done. I'm really thinking of buying this, but this being an Ubi game, I'll try it first.

9 fps average with an Athlon 64 4000+ doesn't sound optimized at all. Shocked

Athlon X2 64 4000+ is full of shit and you're talking about its single-core predecessor. Razz
It's an old processor, what'd you expect? Confused

that's not reasonable , single core processors can't do shit by today's standards
and we're talking about a giant land free roam game here with great visuals
not a linear in door shooter

With that level of graphics? Optimized only means the code executes effectively, it doesn't mean magically transforming your hardware into something better.

People need to let go of old shit. Laughing

He's talking about optimized as in the old Medal of Honor games with scripted deaths no physics and AI that wasn't AI = Zero CPU load. Laughing

Maybe they should add a DX7 path as well! I expect really well optimized games to run on my Voodoo 5500! Pfft, why did I even bother getting all these cards after that? If a game's not optimized for my old Voodoo, it ain't worth playing!

Also it's on Very High right?

With AI, Physics, and other variables set to Very High, you'd need to turn settings all the way down to minimum on a processor that just fits the minimum requirements.

So I'm pretty sure that since it's optimized, it'll get good frames with that processor after you set the CPU intensive settings down to low.

You guys are acting like an A64 4000+ is a truly ancient CPU but it isn't. It's only a few months older than the Xbox 360 ffs. Even Crysis runs with more than 9 fps on a A64 4000+.

In PC land it's ancient. And the 4000+ is in no way comparable to the Xbox CPU. Dualcores are a must these days for gaming. Single cores, espcially something clocked low like the 4000+ won't be enough, just like a 6600GT won't be enough.

Ok enough. I'm not some stupid noob - I know everything you're trying to tell me. I know that the 360 has three cores etc.
Still imo you can't call a game optimized as long as there are other games that look comparable and run with 15-30 fps instead of 9 fps on the same hardware. In other words - in my opinion Far Cry 2 should really run with more than 9 fps on an A64 4000+ without looking like ass. Period.

How is it a problem? The benchmarks are running on 1680x1050, Very High and with AA/AF. I'm sure you'll get a better framerate on medium settings, as should be expected. Name one game that gives you good frames on a 4000+ with very high settings. Certainly someone who knows everything should understand the logic behind this.

No the first CPU bechmark used only 1280x1024 and 4x AF - and still only 9 fps.
I'm not making the mistake to name some games now. It's not worth the time and it would only lead to uninteresting arguments. Someone would say "stfu noob FC2 looks way better than game X !!!" or "you're an idiot you can't compare FC2 to game Y because it's level based and indooor" blah blah blah. It's never worth the time. And honestly for me it's not a big deal. My opinion is that 9 fps for an A64 4000+ is pretty poor and other people think it's alright. That's fine. Everyone is entitled to his opinion.

OK Weedo, tell me how much frames you get on Crysis with a 4000+ running on VERY HIGH.

If you read my previous post and still do not understand, then you are a fucking idiot.

what more proof do you want more than a legitimate benchmark ?

people..in like "europe" so to speak have a restricted list of games on steam. those of us who are in the US have more games to choose from, we aren't restricted. So a lot of euro people can't see or buy far cry 2. So basically what people are doing, like the few people I've helped so far is they paypal me the money for the game, then I purchage the game, but as a gift, which involves me entering your account name and steam sends the game to you.

Why would Europe be restricted? Has it something to do with retail stores?
