Fuck off with that rhetoric bullshit.

If all you cunts think the games are shit, then don't have it. Whine more that companies actually want to exist in the economy. Read up on what it takes to make a game, or make a better one yourself and then your opinion would be worth a damn. Theiving assholes.

Ha Confused why are they talking about pc piracy when the 360 version leaked? These people are fucking hopeless, just stop developing games for the pc and get of my back.

edit- okay I get it now, the interview was done before the 360 leak and the theme was piracy, then the editor added that ironically the 360 leak appeared first when he released this article.

Honestly the fact that the x-box 360 games are getting leaked before or on release day and that pc games are delayed isn't necessarly a bad thing for pc. They might come to realise that console or pc piracy is there and those who do it will do it no matter what you do or say. I look at this in a positive light as it makes all those publishers and CO look like idiots for blaming the pc for bad sales Smile)

This is why piracy was better in the old days before P2P.
Only people who knew wtf they were actually doping (well, usually anyway) could actually get hold of the games they wanted and morons such as those kids who today pirate games and apparantly call support were forced to buy the products.

You're full of it. Someone buys a computer (like we did in 8Cool and they know someone with a computer, chances are they copied some games/software from them.

p2p just makes it easier. Before p2p there were ftp sites, before ftp there were BBSs, before that people just passed discs around.

as for their support calls, require a key for support calls/emails..end of the problem. Pirates don't have legit keys..

I wish, honestly, that no one pirates any games for a year. I wanna see how much that changes their "projected profits". I wonder how many people will just start passing up games because they don't feel like dropping $40-70 on a game they're only half interested in. Or instead, they'll just rent it.

I know there's alot here who pirate just because they can. Would those people really start buying games if they had absolutely had to? I wonder...

That said, the real blame should be put on those brain surgeons who seem to think they can get support for a pirated game. How do they manage to remember to breathe?

Yes they would buy them if there was no piracy alternative. Not all of them but many would. BioShock clearly demonstrated that.

U say, they have to force us to buy a game? or simply take away "alternatives"?
Because then why is the internet for? to chat and check e-mail? Because let me know, because they pay $ 190 for month, for nothing

For me the thing is that companies have to think, that the user chooses because it has the ability to choose what he wants, is your choice to put at the risk by putting a chip on a console, is his choice, if you do not want to buy the game because the game does not deserve to be bought, is his choice to go to a store and buy a DVD disk and copy it, is his choice to download a game and copy it with the DVD, is his choice to think about putting a DVD in the xbox / ps3/pc, is his choice in the game want to pirate.

It's all about choice,we are always choosing in real life

that is what we are characterized by human beings, WE ARE ALWAYS CHOOSING.

if they take away the posibility of choise, ¿what have left, not to think?

Pfft, only noobs and nerds buy games just because they couldn't wait a month more for a proper crack to show up. I would (naively) like to believe there very few of them and they don't really change anything in terms of long-term sales vs piracy.

What we need is more early leaks of xbox360 games so that more people realize the benefits of having a modded console. Imagine a kid boasting how he just played FO3 or FC2 to his classmates. Wham that's 20 more boxes getting modded right there.

Piracy still doesn't remove a copy from the market, ie a brick and mortar loss, it copies a copy, doesn't cost the developer jot.

no but there would be a hell of a lot more sales if there was no piracy , wouldn't also make it fair, devs would be very overpaid since even with piracy the profits are quite high

That's too drastic. If a game is good, people will buy it. Those who don't, well most of them wouldn't buy it anyway if they couldn't just pirate it. So we're talking about maybe thousands of lost sales here, hundreds of thousands at most IMO.
And, if a game is shit, why would people buy it anyway? If the devs want to fuck us over by making us buy thier unfinished, buggy or boring piece of shit game, I say we fuck'em right back. Most trailers, videos, interviews, etc show these games as if they were great, and the devs usually tend to over-exaggerate their features and innovative nature, sometimes by far. Bribing reviewers doesn't really help proving thier goodwill towards a customer either. It's a well placed web of lies with one purpose: to boost their sales to the max. And after all this, they dare bitch when a few people don't fall for these lies and download their game before spending their money on it? Ultimately, their real problem is that the so called product they created is worthless, but they just can't take the fact that some people refuse to buy it blindly.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that piracy is alright. No, it's not. I don't think it's on the same level as stealing a car, or someone's money, because you don't cause material damage to them directly, but it's a crime nonetheless. But I DO think that if pirates are guilty of such crime, then so are the lieing devs and publishers, who steal people's money with the false advertising of their product. They are the main reason why piracy is so widespread these days: if we can't expect them to deliver half the game they promised to, then why would they expect us not to pirate it?

No, they claim it does. No evidence has been provided to show what, if any significant loss they suffer.

I guess the point here is that FarCry was made by Crytek and FC2 is made by Ubisoft. Ubisoft has no love for PC.
Games are made for consoles nowadays but well, maybe that news of Microsoft+Nvidia etc trying to get them back to pc - maybe it will make some sence finally?

Thou when i watched FC2 gameplay video i have seen clearly textures too poor everywhere.

I wasn't talking about the overall sales of one single product but through out the whole industry
it is all business after all and the goal is one and it's to make as much money as possible, but these lately it seems that the customer is far from taken seriously and instead he is forced to go with what's there and not ask for better product
and the lack of demos only helps increasing the number of illegal downloads , after all you gotta try the thing before spending 50$ on it
I'm all pro piracy aslong as shitheads like EA are forcing DRM and shitty policies
once I hear DRM in a game it is a direct illegal download for me

Actually you just proved what i just wrote, everyone and their mother couldnt get ahold of games before they hit the stores 10 or 20 years ago, you had to know someone to copy their discs/downloads or gain access yourself, today every kid takes for granted that it's going to be availible on any given torrentsite and dont even know where they originate.

Also they could be a hassle to get started if you didnt know your way around the protection or even autoexec.bat and config.sys to get more memory availible for a specific game.

And yes i bought my first computer back in the 80's as well and i bought more games back then compared to now and many of them got shelved within a few days because they were pure crap but they were also much cheaper compared to income back then so it didnt matter as much.
I remember very well copying floppy discs from friends (often 3 copies of the same disc since they often failed..) and finally gaining access on your first BBS as well as starting one of my own.

So once you turn a profit you should just give the rest away for free? I wish it worked like that.. but no, however much money someone made doesn't justify piracy or theft. It's shitty arguments like these that give pirates a bad rep. Well, not like they have much excuse anyway... so carry on looking retarded.

I think the problem is a little bit deeper. I for one will just stop playing video games, if for some reason pirating on PC becomes impossible one day. I think what the devs want is 0% chance of pirating games or as low as possible, this way John will go out and buy the game, be desapointed cause it's not like what he thought it'd be, get pissed maybe, then go out and buy another game a week later thinking that it's a good one, rinse & repeat, Devs & publisher laugh all the way to the bank. 2 minute demoes don't cut it, it's like watching a trailer for a movie and like it, just to be disappointed at the theater.. I think with the big number of pirating going on, more people testing the games, gamers exposing how crappy games really are, thanking whoever they believe in that they didnlt waste thier hard earned money on the crappy overhyped game they downloaded, NOT good for devs. ( crazy PR, paid reviews, reviewer didn't like the game and wants to give it 5/10? fire his ass),

I'd love to buy a PS3, but I didn't because it's not hacked yet. If they don't hack it, I won't buy one, period.

It's not high school/college days for me anymore where I had all the time to check screenshots, trailers, interviews, reading about upcoming games, getting all horny waiting for a game to be released..ect. So it won't bother me that much if they created unbreakable protection crap.

I think Devs are not bitching about xbox360 pirates cause there's a protection in the console itself preventing non geek people in the US and other parts of the world from pirating games. I guess devs don't know, or ignore the fact that in other parts of the world, video game stores sell pirated games, prehacked consoles to customers. But since they live in the US or something they don't bitch/know about that. But at least the heat is not on thier asses to protect thier work ( like in EA's Spore game case). They might want pc hardware makers to implement some kind of hardware protection or something to stop pirating games, or at least stop the massive pirating that's going on.

So you are no longer a student, means you are grown up and have a job. Now I'm wondering where in life did you go so wrong that you can't afford a shitty console and a few AAA titles on it? It's pathetic really.
