I'll be amazed if its even remotely good.
One thing EA is good at is hyping their games and presenting them. As for delivering of the actual game...HA.

So far so good actually.
Graphics are very slick, the hybrid 3rd person/1st person interface is VERY cool.
Beginning is scary. I blame midnight + all lights off + being alone.
EDIT: 5/5 from GameSpy + Editor's Choice
Quote: | Pros:
Superbly detailed action, story and upgrade system; incredibly scary; includes a veritable pantheon of awesome mechanics.
Cons:
Leave some time after the credits roll to pull yourself together and stop your hands from shaking; no, seriously. |

Yeah, played it for 2 hours and I think its great. Not that scary except when your walking down a hallway or enter a room and some fuckin huge alien/monster comes barreling outta no where at you.
the only thing that pisses me off about this game is the long ass reach of some of the monsters. I swear, Im like a good 5 feet a away shooting it and the thing lungs at me with its spikey tenetacle arms and starts chewing on my neck. I hate that.

HOLY SHIT. Let me get one thing straight, games dont "scare" me, but as far as "scary games" go this is fucking tops. Ive had plenty of OH SHIT! moments and I havent been playing that long.
I started a game on the Hard difficulty setting, but omfg was that a mistake. You literally have just enough ammo on you to kill the next hideous thing that crawls to you and just enough first aid kits to keep you going while constantly fearing for your life. If you like a challenge, try this game on hard. It is truly survival horror.
The Atmosphere is amazing, the sounds and sights all seem cohesive and do a good job of sucking you in. If you have a nice sound system, turn it UP.
Controls are about what I would expect. Though I havent been in any 0-gravity scenarios yet, I have not had a problem navigating the sometimes tight corridors of the USG Ishimura.
So far a solid game all around. Not sure how long I will be interested in it with so many other games coming out that I am really looking forward to, but so far so good. I would without a doubt recommend this game to a friend.

Usually Asia releases's are region free, but not sure on EA titles......
However, PlayAsia are showing as locked to NTSC/J.
