Not that anyone cares.. but we have our elections soon too! (8 November)

Our current gov is labour (Center Left) and they have been in gov for like 9 years

However current polls put the national party (Centre Right) ahead with 51% .. while labour is on 31% (It was the same last time however it switched near the end)

And the current "omg wtf outta nowhere" are the greens (Left left) who are at like 9%

Will be interesting to see how this all pans out

Dunno who i am voting for yet.. i have always been a labour voter.. however part of me wants a national / greens coalition (they said they could go together)

I find the greens billboards rather straight to the point Razz

Congratulations! You guys get more of the same. Razz Well this can only mean one of two things. The previous government hasn't screwed up big time enough to get voted out of power or there isn't anyone suitable to replace them.

let me tell you how it panned out in Canada. 7%, or almost a million people voted for Greens and they did not win one seat in parliament. If I was a Green voter I would make sure my next vote was written on the wick my my molotov Evil or Very Mad

The Canadian election system is not a valid representation of what the people vote for.

Also, a cool story about the doucheyness of Harper.

Ex-Tory Bill Casey says his massive win is a message to Stephen Harper’s Conservative government: do not bully MPs.

“Members of Parliament should not be punished for voting on behalf of their constituents,” Casey said while celebrating at his Truro headquarters last night. “Members of Parliament should be able to speak on upon their behalf. Everybody knows it.”

Casey clobbered his rivals last night in the fight to win back his Cumberland-Colchester-Musquodoboit Valley seat. The former long-time Conservative became an independent last year after the prime minister kicked him out of caucus for voting against his party over the Atlantic Accord. And he still maintains the Government of Canada broke its promise by changing the terms of the 2005 Atlantic accord.

He says his win goes to show the people think so too.

“I’m proud of the people for voting this way,” he said. “It shows people were unrestricted by a party line.”

Casey’s win comes despite being at a disadvantage with regards to fundraising. The Elections Act prevents independent candidates from fundraising before the writ is dropped, but party riding associations are free to do so before elections.
