The game make a quick update of 10 seconds then you dont need to go online to play you dont need to be connected on STEAM to play the game and you dotn need to register so how do you want the game to stop working?????
Valve close steam update for this version of game or include check in next patch for steam and game stop working or install...
It installs EXACTLY like retail, so how are they going to stop us from updating it ?
Make offline crack , installer not need update from internet! Or already updated patch,files...
Game from Emporio+fix not need internet in install step and launch, not need stupid updates from steam.

Check the date of the files in SteamApps. You'll see that they're all dated 16th of November - meaning that nothing gets updated. After letting Steam update my legit HL2, the modified date of 'source engine.gcf' changed.
When you install the game, you have to start Steam up and nothing more. The game itself doesn't update - only Steam, after which you close it and run hl2install.exe. The update proceedure is perfectly normal for every copy of Steam - download it and try it yourself, you'll see it updates in exactly the same way.
In other words, Valve can't block anything because the game isn't getting updated, only Steam is, so short of blocking every other Steam user in the world off, there's nothing they can do about it

I've not tried the offline installer myself so I can't comment on it. Check out what I said again - you need an Internet connection, you need to let Steam update the client and not the game, but you don't need a Steam account. Simple.

CS Source is online so you need STEAM to run it and since this HL2 doesnt run under STEAM it will not work.....but why bother when EMPORiO released it already???

Sure, they could've been a little more detailed with the installation instructions in the nfo, but they probably figured the average person trying to install the game would have an IQ level of 2 or higher...
I guess they were wrong.

This release works fine offline and online. I've tried both methods. If it's not working for you, you are simply foolish, ignorant and/or stupid. From my testing, this game gives me a better framrate than any other version I have tried including Retail. Also, it installed perfectly fine, easily, and the crack "installer" worked fine as well (offline/online) and I've played the first few levels for fun (as I've already beaten the game twice).
The release when compared to the retail 5CD version is exactly the same until you apply the crack, so this is why it will not be/is not nuked...
And for some strange reason, after reading the .nfo and using some common knowledge and sense, this release was not confusing whatsoever. Also note that the EMPORiO Proper needed a fix for the HUD/AI/NODE/NCP problems and this one does not. Overall, this is less confusing. Now stop complaining, thank Vengeance in your mind and go play instead of spending too much time here...

I just did that part after reading your post and everything works fine. the GCF file is the file that contain everything from the game....like a big game zip so im not sure what you want to create though

is it working and worth downloading?????????

ok this is how i got the .. offline thing to work.. i installed it.. AND YOU HAVE TO INCLUDE THE CS SOURCE CAUSE its gay... and i didnt want it but i had to install it... then when it comes up with the update thing... it runs...
let it finish .. i setup a steam account...
then you get the offline files and run the exe.. it will copy alot of files..
works flawlessly

No need to setup a STEAM account...just update STEAM and when the registering window popup just close it and run the patch.

i purchased it for only 37bucks... waiting for it in the mail figured i would try this release... only thing is i dont want cs source.. but its required to install that shit..!! i just wish i could try CS source since its installed....
Can i delete CS source or does HL2 need it to run?
