Also there is a huge rumoured fuck up revealing the release date on BestBuy's site, the game finally went up with a release date of december 3rd 2008 but quickly changed to TBA when a thread popped up on blizzard forums.

Sorry to burst your bubble about that Dec release.

Quote:
In his Worldwide Invitational presentation about StarCraft II, Blizzard Executive Vice President Rob Pardo reaffirmed that the game won't be released in 2008.

Pardo explained that they are only "about a third of the way through" the single player's campaign, and that they are currently concentrating on story structure and cinematics.

Not to disappoint StarCraft fans, Pardo was quick to promise "something very impressive to show off" by the end of the year. He also confirmed that StarCraft 2 will be released simultaneously for PC and Macintosh.

Never trust what a store says at least not this early as their guess is just as good as yours.

blizzard are such teases. theyre the only game company i can think of that releases actual gameplay footage that shows a nearly complete game. once they do that they go ahead and say some ridiculous thing like only one third done or its still early in development after 4 years.

Well, better this way, not like all the others who dump half-baked shit on the shelves and keep on patching (hopefully!) for months.

Both Diablo, Diablo2, and Starcraft has had many many patches over the years.

This of course show two things:

a) Blizzard does not produce perfect products out of the box
b) but does support them for an insane amount of time

@Parallax: you're so right. but i find in intriguing the fact that you mentioned SC above. i don't remember Blizz giving out something else than Brood War (and a few patches). did they do anything else and i don't know about?

But the patches mostly fixes balance issues that comes up during the years people play. It's hard to forsee how people will play games, especially games like SC.

So the paches have not so much been serious bugfixing, most Blizzard games are nearly bug-free when they are released. So no, they're not perfect. But if you compare to other games nowdays I think it's good that at least one company out there takes their time to release something that do not need a 500 mb patch the first day to fix a gamebreaking bug. Smile

What he was trying to say was reguardless of how old those games are, Blizzard realizes their customers come first, and no matter how old the game is, they still listen to those who play their games and support them. Name another company who supports their games from that long ago. I sure as heck can't Surprised

You're right in that. I think Blizzard beats them all in that department. They're the best in give support to their games. Most companies gives up on their games after two years, if not before.

I know what's happening to this game. It's being developed. What new info do you want? There are gameplay vids and new screenies every few weeks. What else do you want? Just leave devs alone so they can focus on what really matters - making game perfect, and not wasting time on writing some new info, everyone knows what starcraft is already, it doesn't need some cheap hype etc.

Unless each campaign will cost 17$ I'm not interested. If it's more expensive than that will pirate the shit out of this bitch.

If there is enough content to justify it, then it could be pretty good. Seems they're going to be taking the same approach with Warcraft 4.

I'm still looking forward to both.

What a waste of packaging. Finish your game before you ship it you Actiblizzard moneysnatchers.

I knew that merger could do nothing but harm.

I never particularly cared for Starcraft anyway, I'm not an RTS person. They just better not try no shipping with 2 classes and 1 act bullcrap with Diablo 3 Razz

I think they probably overextended themselves by the campaigns, and my guess is that they felt it was better to complete the Terran campaign, rather than delaying a lot to complete the other campaigns, or downplaying the other campaigns.

This way they can get the main game out well polished and in time, and we can continue the campaigns as they are made.

I hope the expansions are priced to reflect that, but even if they aren't it's nowhere near the crime that other developers already do, so i'll probably end up buying all 3 Razz
