Interesting, only been able to find a German and French CE in Europe plus the Australian CE which is shipped to other countries at a higher cost and there's probably a South-African CE as well.
Though from the previous comparison pictures it doesn't seem to be such a big difference even when zoomed in so I guess the actual resolution isn't increased that much but perhaps it's better compressed or totally uncompressed. (Must be something like that considering the size of the disc, DDS texture files loose a bit of detail when compressed in those various modes available.)

the problem is the games that were supposed to be sold in europe got sent to south africa by accident , so people in south africa have activation problems because they're not in the "right region", thats what this is all about. And if you go to the forums note all the south africans with the en_GB version of the game that were supposed to be sold in Scandinavia/GB.
When the developers on the forums said they had shipped copies to retailers in Scandinavia they weren't lying only someone at deepsilver cocked up and the copies ended up in Cape Town.
I know a european distributor, who's been able to land me a few copies

Ah so that's what's going on, did read a short while ago on the official forums that they've also fixed the region-lock for various countries so at least the developers seems pretty eager to fix any remaining issues and annoyances while also being very friendly with the community (Such as the previous torrent discussion.)
(Support for Sacred 1 was also pretty good with a full content update called "Plus" and a expansion together with a variety of patches.)
I liked the first game so once it's available here I'll definitively buy this one as well.
(Could also purchase a serial now and download the English version when it's available somewhere but I'll have to think about it.)

I hope this one keeps my interest. So far the only hack n slash I continued to play was DII and that was because the online was so strong and fun and had one hell of a community for trading etc.
All the others bored the shit out of my after a few levels.
Hellgate....we all know the story there, Titan Quest..I beat a god now you want me to save the rest of the world? What's the point...whats stopping me not to mention the skills were boring redundant, Loki was fun till i had to fight snakes with a battle axe? What? Sacred 1 I played a lot of but then had a show stopper bug and never got around to buying it and kind of forgot about it.

well Sacred 2 has a unique atmosphere and many of the classes/spells. Even the world itself is very european in it's construction which is refreshing.
I could probably play the game for hours on end.
Also Ascaron is working on setting up a torrent for the english version for those who bought it through nexway, word is it should be up "very soon". Just another reason why I like Ascaron as a game developer.
Looks like I don't need to upload mine on usenet then

The serial will work on both as they removed region restrictions.

Are the "spells and skills" fun to use though. Liek spell casters releasing balls of flames everywhere or something fun. Not...a twig of lightning with nothing exciting from it.
All I can really reference to is the sorceress in DII cause those skills were just awesome. The Ice Orb couldn't be better.

I'm worried about being stuck on certain servers. When I login with the German edition, 95% of the servers are in German.
Hopefully the UK edition and the International edition have access to the same servers.

Is co-op done through their servers? Or can my bro and I play the game together no problem?

You can setup your own no problem.
And yeah reason why theres so many german servers now is because most people who have the game are german and have the german version.
concerning skills, yes the skills are fun and very varied amongst the classes so you just try different classes till you find something you like. The High Elf is a lot like the sorceress in diablo 2, but you have to remember theres no mana in this game, so you can't just spam spells, well you can, but it does require you to level up a bit and get your concentration, focus and stamina skills up. Also each spell and skill have their own spell/skill tree where you can further specialize it to do or act as you wish.

So I could also use an international key on the German version? Or a German key on the international edition? What about server restriction, can I also join international servers?
I really consider buying a key, mainly because of their open torrent/piracy policy.

It would seem theres some internal confusion at Ascaron at the moment. First they said users could upload the game, but now they've removed all references to that information and discussions about it gets locked and deleted

as usual corporate gobbledygook about "concerns raised", I'll tell you what happened CDV software saw how many sales they would lose because of online distribution and told Ascaron they wouldn't distribute their game in USA if they went through with this. Those are the "concerns" not of the community but for an american publisher who's concerned about their future money making prospects.

I didn't interpret that post as telling the community not to upload the game, but rather that Acaron will not be providing the community with any links. I think they are more concerned that users may get a virus from using a link that they provided. |
not when they themselves were the distributor.
