Any idea if all 5 cds can be combined into one install/directory, to be put on dvd? I dont mean burning the images then mounting them with DT either. Thanks.

ok a qeustion, is it possible if you have a key, to use this 5 cd's to install the game with this key(legal key) tru steam????
because i want to install the game on a legal way, but i dont got the cd's or dvd only a key. dont ask how i got the key:p

ive hit a wall. the hl2install file isnt working for me, keeps saying 'failed to start steam!' install went fine otherwise...

How to create DVD from this 5CD rls? Have there enybody modified hl2.msi, or tutorial how to create. Sorry for my english ;-(

I think you would need to create a new installer. Still you can burn the bin files not the images and mount them from the dvd drive...

You must allow installer to connect Steam (just like legal installation). If You block / disable connection to Steam, You will have to use this: http://www.nfohump.com/index.php?m=nfo&id=80055.
As far as I can see there are 2 ways of installation VengeancE's one: online via Steam (crazy) and offline usin' their offline installer (validator). I wonder if Steam account is needed considering online installation...

There could be a few reasons for that.
1) This release does not have the latest patch, which most retail customers claim have ruined the game's performance. There have been many requests to revert the patch.
2) There is no Steam chugging it down with this release( obviously ). One could argue that with Steam gone extra resources will help the game run smoother.
I'm really leaning toward 1 though, that patch really seemed to fuck a lot of people over.

I had downloaded the real Retail before, installed it and ran the vengeance patch. Getting this error "Invalid or corrupt background texture materials/console/background01.vtf". Is the vengeance retail install been modified to?

Can anyone tell me whether the VENGEANCE release is multilanguage or not?
Is it only English?
And by the way, what's the use of making a 5CDs version, when the Retail copy is DVD?

The only thing I could see that referenced retail was this "At last a 100% functional and automated retail release of the most anticipated sequel in PC games history."
Doesn't really say the retail was modified in any way.

Yes the gcf's were decrypted then repacked so that's why your retail won't work .... as the retail gcf's are still encrypted and won't run unless you "unlock" it through steam.

i installed the 5 cds on my drive :
G/half life 2
fine!
BUT: installing VENGEANCE hl2install.exe on CD5 does NOTHING!
i also tried the content of the VENGEANCE folder on CD5 into my HL2
directory and double clicked it: still NOTHINg! no cracks, no shortcut!
whats wrong? do i have to install game in default folder on drive C:/ ?
or what?

no, it is not possible. I do not know anyone who was able to do such a thing due to "different instalation files".
