@chris1979233: do the elven/death world stuff first. entering demonis while you're still doing the dwarven quests is pure suicide.
been playing for 3 days straight now, "addictive" doesn't even come near it. only thing that pisses me off is the constant running back to buy new units after every few battles and fact that you only can have 5 different units in battle, which you cannot even split

Ditch bowmen. Having masses of units that can be wiped with 1 spell is dumb. Go for Huge units such as giants, they make for great tanks while rest pounds.
My wipe squad:
4 Giants - Amazing tanks
49 Evul Beholders - High initiative and making enemy fight with itself
30 Ents - secondary tanks
40 Alchemists - Ranged damage dealing, poisoning
170 Guardsmen - Damage
110 Ancient bears - Damage
Add fireball on top with that and You pwn.

guys I am addict! Cant play this game on my current laptop , and I sold my rig (s. 939) cause I need money for new one. And I can buy it on monday!!! Thats 2 days!!!

Guys if you need more of the rare troops just buy 1 of them at a shop then a big pack of crap troops at a horde shop. Then use the sacrifice spell and make as much of the rare troop as you can have.

I'm playing on impossible dif level as a paladin. Had to sneak around to get better troops from territories much harder.
Evil beholders
Archmages
Green dragons
Demons
Inquisitors
Cast a powerful spell first turn, archmages cast shield on dragons, dragons use magic stealing ability to damage/regain mana. If lose any dragons, use inquisitors to resurrect. Then wipe everything with stoneskinned demons and resurrect all troops before combat is over (not always everything). Change inquisitors or evil beholders with knights in reserve when needed. I used giants instead of dragons for while but dragons much better. That mana stealing and damaging ability lets me regain lots of mana and cast resurrect few more times. Going all undead troops and using necro call would prolly be easier but I have some nice equipment that gives negative stats to undead.
Level 17 so far but the enemies are getting way harder, like 2-4 times as many troops as I have.

He meant having multiple stacks of same group on battlefield.
Well it's kind of possible with gryfs.

yeah, i mean exactly the thing with the gryphons. why can't you do that with every unit at the start of the battle? the enemy does it all the time, so why isn't the player allowed to? kills a lot of the strategy factor if you ask me. and no sense in splitting up units in the hero window, as that would take up space of a whole bataillon.
@mister_s: if you think kordar is hardcore, have fun with the rest of the game. just follow the advices already given in this thread...and use the scout and diplomacy skills, pick your fights, do some quests, grind some of the areas before and invest in the more expensive units. the little cheap bastards like spiders and peasants aren'tworth it.

i was using 220 of them spiders and i think i recruited 13 knights they owned until this dude cast all this spell shit on me and i was fucked and i lost

I'm now level 19 and managed to beat most enemies in the Dwarven world after lots of running back to stores for fresh units. But now I'm on the Elven world and the strength of the enemy units is just insane. I manage to win every fight but I've got to run around the map to restock units after every 1-2 fights.
Maybe MMORPG fans like that kind of bullshit running around stuff, but damnit I want to fight!

just go to Hell through the mines, the lift is pretty close to the castle that u've got to conquer (u get the thing for Reaper there).

Yea but undead can use necro call to raise dead troops and necromancers can also raise your dead troops. You can buy skel dragons in hell (one of the elevators in dwarf area). You can do it by running around avoiding enemies, going to portal to hell and buy tons of nice troops including demons, necros, knights, etc. Not easy but thats what I did. Demons are some of the best troops. They do 50% more damage to level 1-3 units and retaliate unlimited times like griffons. Plus they can summon more demon troops. And those are just the regular demons not archdemons.

Managed to kill spider boss at level 14 without losing single troop, killed about 10 000 spiders in the process tho.
