Thought I could get some answers here, have a girl in class that is a satanist, but to me she is not, so maybe it is me not understanding what it is to be satanist. So plz help me understand if you are or know some one that is a Satanist.

Well as you can see from the wiki article, the term includes a lot of different ideologies, that don't necessarily have all that much to do with each other. The theistic satanists aren't any better than the other morons who believe in fairy tales, and the LaVeyan satanists aren't much better either with their magic bullshit.
You could just ask what branch of satanism she sees as her own, satanists are usually pretty open to sincere curiosity.

as was said above there are many different takes on satanism around. Look for articles on aleister crowley for the magical kind and on anton szandor lavey for the modern kind of practically godless satanists with some rituals thrown in the mix for good measure

lol this one girl i dated was a satanist. wore all black. loose clothing. sort of goth like but out there. like way out there. y'know. happy and chipper and shit. but morbid and dark at the same time. Very cute too, but pudgy.
She has a dark sense of humour. Doesn't believe in religion religion like jesus, jehova and the like. she believes and worships the satan and shit. Very very dark. Also very very hot.
To level w/ her. just fucking listen and understand. don't judge.

yeah, listen to waldo, the best thing you can do to "get in touch" with her is to not be judgemental and listen to what she sees in it and what she gets out of it, or at least hopes to.
and drinking from the same chalice of children's blood will make you level with any satanist - especially the hot ones - pretty fast, hahahaha

As esoterically movements happen to be my chief side interest, all of those reading this topic prepare for a lection, if you Believe or you are an AmeriKKKan , please be kind enough and skip this post...
Well first of there are two major things that should be made clear.
There is SATANISM and then there is LUCIFERIANISM....
To put it simple the term "satanist" in the "general public" stands not for satanists or luciferianists, but for the very act of semi-religious and social anarchism.In my country I have been asked if I was a satanist only because I were black. So basically every one who is a bit more distinguished as opinions and views,or just wares distinctive cloths can be labeled or even chose to refer to himself as a satanist.This makes it quite hard to discover who really holds such believes or just holds a social pose.
Even afterwords one has to deal with the difference between a luciferianic worshiper,and a satanist.If you are a believing sheep minded christian - the "good christian" you would most likely consider Satan just one of the names to refer to Lucifer.
However if you are actually an educated christian you would know that in the old Testament and in the new one Satan(Satanail) and Lucifer are two different figures.Satan originates as a name from the asiro-babilonic culture - the name "shaiten" which stands for a desert deamon that tempted and consumed the souls of lost travelers.In the Talmudah and the old Testament the evolution of the angel Satanail is based on the same image - Satan is a fallen angel who tempts man and then drags them to hell after they have fallen.This is where the part the church usualy skips in his image begins.
As a demon it is natural to assume he serves Lucifer, but actually he was given this task by God, and is the only "neutral figure" in the christian symbolism that is a fallen angel -the others are the angels known as "arms" of god and his Justice.Satan's duty is to actually tempt the mortals so that only those who are worthy of redemption my reach it.He uses his powers not to corrupt the innocent but see who truly are innocent.
This is where the explanation of what a SATANIST really is can begin.As a religious sect in the judeo-christianic structure satanists originaly was a name accepted by those who discovered the true nature in the image of Satan, and accepted his role as a postive ruling figure in the lifepath of man (for temptation was neccesery to proof innocence).From there 2 main have emerged and have historical path that can be fallowed.
The first one is the image of those who accepted the sin and temptation and gave in to them in hopes that this is a test for their will and afterward they will manage to break free of those chance and (after already experiencing and giving sin up) stay pure in their soul..Most of the historical figures who tried this one...you guessed it...FAILED....This was the image of satanism mostly associated with secret aristocratical cults, black Sabbaths(although they were mostly luciferianic) , worshiping Satan out loud and most of the modern "dark cultistic" "symbolism)....Those satanists often chose to try and temp others, by doing so believing that showing someone his true face to God, was putting them in his favor.
The second path was by far less popular and eventually evolved into hermitistic lifestyle.Those who believed they have discovered the "true face of Satan" chose willingly to give up on their social environment and isolate themselves from the others in order to be free of temptation.
Afterwords they devoted their life into dwelling on different questions such as the true meaning of purity of a soul, or how the only way to be certain you are free of sin, is by actually never allowing for anyone to lead you in any way, thus crafting your own path of salvation, and seeing Satan image of a promoter of this exact strength for self discovery....This image is quite closely connected to Nietzsche's philosophy of Life...
Well...Those are the two traditional and in my eyes "authentic" forms of "satanism", if you will "true satanism"...everything else in my book is excuse me "goth crap"(and I do not mean real goths but those Merilyn Manson listening mall -type ones).Satanism is basically an individualistic view point on the reason behind your own actions and the life path you chose.You don't even have to call yourself one, you just have to choose and have the will to see yourself constantly as a product of your own weaknesses and realize where you stand in your motives.
And now a word or two about luciferianism (usualy called "Satanism" by...well every body).
Luciferianism is the image of "satanism" as the media and pop culture show it - black candles made of human fat, goat heads, baby blood,ritual daggers violation of virgins, sacrifices,kissing the rectal crack of a goat like idol while having an orgy that even the romans would have hard time to imagine- all that jazz.It is based on the concepts of pleasure and greed - the two main symbols that Christianity considers basic for Luciifers after his fall.Luciiferianism is based on sacrificing your soul and corrupting the souls of others in exchange for direct profit and effect upon reality, be it material wealth, the misfortune of someone or simply pleasure.Also the fundamental believe is that the more you are in favor of corrupting the world around you, the better your standing in the hierarchy of hell.This image if fueled by Dantes image of hell and the fact that the "barons" of each infernal circle are actually the souls of the ones who are greatest "in tune" with the sin to which the circle is committed....
If any of you is into Warhammer, the easiest way to imagine luciiferianic "satanism" would be a Slaneeshi cult -pleasure and depravity for the sake of pleasure and depravity....
Most of the "official satanic churches" are actually based on luciferianism and bits of free masonic rites....
And...that's it....well someone wanted to know what satanism is...and here you have it...It is just another excuse for a person to do what ever he or she considers right...how they use that is a matter of personal preference.....
"Don't judge- listen " is the best position for if a person is really bound to one of the above "true forms" , this can oftenly be seen in her positions and reasoning behind her actions.If she is incapable of explaining her self then I would simply role her out as an exotically looking sex toy...

Satan means "oppose" or to oppose, satanism is an anti-movement like nihilism. Rejecting God, seeing only yourself as god.

Ive known many "satanists". Basically, based on what ive been told, satanism is away in which to be your own god. You determine your destiny, you determine what how you lead your life etc
True Satanism has nothing to do with killing ppl, sacrificing animals, drinking blood etc

Ofc it does, but imo everything is mixed up. You may even call christianity satanism [drinking the bood of jesus] and satanism a good will. But there are many branches of satanism. But there are three types of satanists imo: flesh satanists, spiritual satanists and kiddie satanists.
