Too bad the game is badly optimized, it sluggish at times even when i turn everything down to low and 1024x.
Hopefully the full version will perform better.
My computer is old but there“s lots of new games with much better graphics that run much better.
About the game itself, i feel that Sacred 1 had more character.
Dont like the new 3d engine that much, feels a bit sluggish and clumsy.

well, my computer is not so old and game seems sluggish also. On Quad 6600, 2GB of RAM and 8600GT the demo can be quite choppy (I play on 1650xsomething and high settings). But the game seems to be fun, I'm waiting for english version.

So a game being new constitutes it also being demanding on the hardware?
Some games are more demanding than others and theres a bit more to it than this or that is poorly optimized, if you have a streaming world with no loadtimes you're obviously gonna load a lot of stuff in the ram and expect the cpu to be able to keep on calculating whats happening in the world, especially if it's made so that everything is alive and not just what you can see or is around you.
Thus comparing a game like that with a game like Call of Duty 4 which is heavily instanced, or zoned if you will, really has no merit.

8600GT really doesn't cut it anymore on highest settings and high resolutions.

The problem is that buyers of the regular version are 2nd class customers...as they get lower res. textures. No matter if they are looking "good enough"... I think the content of the game should be the same for all customers... not like "hey look at my screenshots..i spent $20 more and my textures are fucking amazing...take this you cheap ass". I can't understand why they have a 2 class society...
They started by using this crappy online activation shit and telling everyone how their securom is soo much better and more customer friendly than any other securom *lol* and now they rape those cheap ass customers....just like ... hey for $50 you only get 50% of the game and for $100 you get 100% ....
if they had a good marketing dept. they would add free bonuses for all customers and even offer coupons etc. - but this is just ridiculous. I also gave them a bad rating on amazon for their copy protection shit. |

Thats my and the dev's comment. |
Bs. People who can't play a game or get low fps always complain. They should leave it to the customers if they want to use "Ultra" Textures or not. So why did they add it in the CE ? Do you think CE Customers do not complain if it does not run with ultra quality ?
They just want to make more money..thats why they did not add it to the regular version. I don't care about a fckin dev who knows nothing about sales and marketing.

Is there really that much of a difference though? seems like the same system to me but there are a few variations of it by now and ofcourse it'll be the latest version of the protection.
(online activation with possibility of SecuROM disc-check being implemented as well.)
I'll buy it if I can find the CE somewhere close by, might download the regular edition as well tho if it's released earlier. (CE's rarely get pirated but the extras might be released by P2P.)
(Especially regarding patches, I'm actually not much for online or MP in general but there will probably be a few patches and so far it seems that none of the patched versions of these previous titles have been cracked - Mercenaries 2, Bionic Commando, Spore, Mass Effect and so on.)

After about 10 min of playtime.
I like it. Default fixed camera system has to go. They let you change it so no biggie. Feels good to be able to spin the camera around.
All on medium settings so far (default). Looks decent. Seems smooth with no slowdowns yet.
Played on c2duo 2.8 ghz 4 gig ram vista 64bit + 8800gtx (have 2 for sli but not enabled, will try later)
Other than that it's perfect for a Diablo 3 hold me over.
For those who liked sacred one , a lot of that feel is still here.
I'll probably pick this up
Need to play more

Is gogamer located or does it ship from within the US? How is it legal for them to sell the international edition?

bah, i picked up twice from a local pcgames site ... the archive gave me a CRC Error ... downloading this the third and final time from Gamershell. Will post my impressions if i eventually manage to install it -.-
edit: finally i installed it, played it a bit and i have to say it's nice, nothing ground-breaking but it could turn out to be a nice item-hunting-rpg. the graphics are colourful and pleasant but the framerates are kind of choppy on my Q6600, 4gb RAM, 8600 GTS (i suspect this to be the culprit ). on 1280*1024, high-ish settings the FPS are quite low. if i set it 1024*768 it works ok but i suspect that there's an optimization issue here. i mean, the witcher looks better imo and runs so much better.
Long story short, the game is ok and you should at least try it.
LE: i forgot about the sounds. they're not really that special and sometimes they're almost laughable. for example the "Aiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii" death sound of the male enemies (some of them) made me chuckle.
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 - ASUS P5Q-PRO - Mushkin XP2-6400 4GB - Gainward HD4850 Golden Sample - WD 3200AAKS (managed to fry this one, ffs) + WD 6400AAKS - Thermaltake 550W PSU - Thermaltake Soprano VX case

North American Release Date Clarification
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry for much of the confusion on the release dates. I'll try to shed as much light as I can to flesh out Bill and Carolyn's comments regarding this topic.
There are multiple publishers for the title, and thus different release dates (some by days, some longer) across the various territories. cdv is the publisher for North America only. The gone gold announcement by Ascaron primarily focused on the non-English European release version. This did not include North America.
There is a separate process for submitting and receiving the age rating (ESRB) for North America, and, subsequent to that, getting Microsoft's Games for Windows certification approval. These steps are separate for our territory, and only once they are complete, can we officially announce the game as having "gone gold" for the Windows PC and PC Collector's Edition for North America.
Additionally, due to hardware differences between the average European and North American system, there were additional configurations we felt obligated to test that would impact our local customers the most if not confirmed as fully compatible. That has also contributed to our delay in shipping the product on our end.
Lastly, we are presently finalizing our choice of distributor, which is the conduit for getting product into retail. We are days away from this announcement, and a (hopefully) final announcement of the release dates for Canada and the United States. At present, it looks like the PC version will ship to North American retailers on November 11, 2008, and the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in early February 2009.
Once this has been announced formally, you will also see the game listed in all major retail stores and be able to pre-order it there. For now, the only places you can pre-order the North American version is via Amazon.com and via Direct2Drive (electronic download version only).
Please bear with us; the wait will be worth it.
Respectfully,
Mario Kroll
Director of Marketing and PR
cdv Software Entertainment USA
