Or is it patched already?

I just bought the game to encourage such games on PC instead of shoddy ported console turds.

It's better than HOMM5 imo. The game starts very, very slow though. You have to keep playing, even if it's pretty boring at times.

After playing about 5 more hours, I have to agree with you entirely. This it the best game I've played so far in 2008, without a doubt!

Great game, just as good as I hoped it would be. Played like 10+ hours so far and loving it. It is fairly difficult though, starts out easy but difficulty goes up fast and some quests you gain aren't possible to do till 5-6 levels later.

Haven't encountered much bugs either however one is quite annoying :/
One being a mind run placed so you can't pick it up and the other one is the quest after you get to kill the kraken. Game keeps crashing as soon as I try to turn in the quest ( which sucks because I can't get the other wife). If anyone has a fix for this one please tell me.

Does anybody know if its possible to make a full multilanguage version out of the demo? Because the demo-version is multi. If nobody knows I will try it by myself.

huh, i've spent 8hrs playing it yesterday, and I still feel like if i was in the very beginning

the game is surprisingly tough on normal level - HoMM on hard was not a match and here I'm not able to do many quests and I still lose battles.. That's why I like it so much Smile

it's surprisingly hard on easy too. any battle with enemies tougher than very weak means losing a whole bunch of my troops. that was before leveling up the first spirit of rage, though. now it's getting a bit easier Smile

It's important that you stick to the Crown missions in the beginning until you get the chest of rage, instead of doing all the side missions. The spirit Sleem has the Evil Shoal power which helps you greatly, even feels a lot overpowered compared to the other powers you get from the spirits of rage.

Totally better than HOMM5.
This is one hell of a game, and I will buy it definitely.

i have not played the 1990 version of this game. i have played several homm games with very similar play style (with turn based combat). anyway, i used to like this game style way back when but now i grew tired of it.

it seems tedious and pointless now that i'm playing the sequel to 1990 game. the graphics are ok but they seem dated somehow. definitely not a style/type of game i would play anymore.

in one battle (i think against the dragon in the tournament), the red beholder creature would constantly put my last troop to sleep every turn. i could not cast a spell or move or do anything. all i could do was watch as my troop dies slowly and i loose the battle (which means you have to load a save game again). it's really annoying.

after an hour, it got boring really fast. when a game gets boring, it's time to uninstall.

I'm voting King's Bounty for best soundtrack, it fits completely with the game and some tracks are even really nice to listen to. And this isn't the usual genre of music I like Smile

yes the game is great. I'am enjoying every bit of it. IMO the graphics are not as good as in Heroes 5- but they are charming and colorful. There are tons of quests, levels to explore and skills to develop. And there is a lot of humor in the dialogs Smile

Yes you are right about that. Just found out about it myself, loved space rangers 2 so nice to see that it wasn't just a one hit wonder from those guys. Seems like they know how to make good games that isn't the same as everything else released these days...

I havent tried it yet, but I can't imagine it disappointing me as great as I thought Space Rangers II was and is. Fantastic freaking game that is.

I am currently a level 18 Paladin running around the Vally of a Thousand Rivers. My own way of minimizing casualties is to fix the enemy in place by luring them to attack specific units. I call these shield units (2 heavy defensive units) as they are meant to hold the enemy in place so my other units take minimal casualties themselves while attacking.

My Currency Army:
7x Unicorns - Used them as fodder, great unit though but will replace them with dwarfs most likely.
3x Black Dragons - Found these not long ago, 800HP at default and can attack multiple units!
61x Horsemen - Permanent in my army still.
90x Royal Snakes - Another unit died so I replaced them with these again and they can still be of use this late!
6x Cyclops - Very heavy armored (Resistant to Magic, Physical damage) missile unit with 520hp. I'm trying to find more of these but no luck yet.

Basically overall I have had either 2 or 3 missile units, 2 shield units and 1 lightly armored unit but with a high attack rating.

Early on I hired the services of Royal Snakes (swamp area), found they are awesome units, combined with the "frog wife" (she gives 100% attack bonus to snakes) you own! Cool Later on I added Griffins (hard to find in numbers early on) because of the Unlimited Retaliation ability they kill units in masses and when you get to the Dwarfs, prepare to hire their armored unit, it is perfect for the job and there is plenty of them. I also use the Horseman now but they come late in numbers.

List of worthy units I have or had in service.

Heavy Units:
Royal Snakes - Ability: Units Cannot Retaliate
Guardsmen - Good when you get them, I dismissed them later on for better units)
Griffins - Ability: Unlimited Retaliation = mass carnage
Dwarfs - Damn hard to kill which means perfect for the job Razz
Polar Bears - Very effective killing machines but hard to find a supply of em.
Horseman - Fast and Armored, if they have room they can give up to 50% additional charge damage.

Light Units:
Barbarians - high attack damage thx to special ability.
Sea Dogs - Can attack multiple units at same time and because Pirate Wife gives 100% attack bonus

Missile Units:
Archmages - 100% Extra damage ability
Dwarf Cannoneers - Extra damage ability and great defense.

For the human Bowmen, Priests, Inquisitors, I find they just suffer constantly too high casualties for my taste, especially Bowmen and Priests so I replaced em as soon as I could with better missile units.
As for abilities I highly recommend Reserve, Necromancy and Frenzy.

heres my army build
lvl 9 paladin

16x alchemist- strong and healthy unit. Limited missile range-Can attack all enemies in line. has 3 special bombs. Very useful

86x priests. Good shooters. Especially against undead. Can Heal and bless.

30x beholders. Ranged with high action points count. High maximum damage- goes well with bless.

88x bowmen- average rangers. Goes well with dgragon arrow magic- negate range penalty

43x inquisitor- better than priest- has resurrection- very useful against undead

previously i had 800 peasants.. high damage- high causalities.

So far i'm all for ranged attacks. I distract the enemies with lvl 2 phoenix which i sent straight into the enemies ranks- cast glot armor on it

i wonder should i get inquisition skill... does upgrading priest to inquisitors also raises the leadership requirements on them?

Later on the in the game after doing one or two of the primary quests ( the ones from the king) you will get the chest of rage which then will allow you to use your rage.
