I have 9200 Dimension computer and I wish to change my Nvidia card. Currently my components are as follows:

Core 2 Duo 6600
2x 1GB Ram
2x DVD RW
GF 8800 GTS 320mb
2x 160GB Raid 0
Firewire card
2x Bluetooth dongle

PSU wattage as stated on the label = 375 W

Do you think my PSU will be able to handle ATI 4870? The thing is these damn Dell computers are so damn difficult to upgrade. Apart from changing memory or graphics everything else is a nightmare. So do you think there is no other way for me but to change PSU unit?

375w is tad low even for your current setup
i recommend at least quality 500w psu, if u don't want parts exploding in your pc

in fact i wouldn't even recommend buying pre-build pc's for gaming, u never know what kinda shitty mobo or ram they shove there and psu for that matter

Depends on the 12V rail. Look at the specs on the side and check out what the 12v amp rating is. Better yet look at the load power draw of your GTS through some reviews on the net, do the same for the 4870 so you have an idea how much more power it pulls.

Actually, for the past couple years Dell has been using some pretty beefy PSU's. You don't hear of a Dell powersupply dying very often, I don't know where they source them from.

That's how dell makes their systems. I had to fix a family members uncles PC at one point. Had an

Intel Pentium D Dual Core
Geforce 6800GT
Physx Card
2 250GB SATA Cards
like 3 fucking dvd drives
Creative X-FI or whatever soundblaster sound card
some random card reader bullshit

all on.....a 275watt generic pile of crap psu

And this in one of their so called "high end XPS" systems

If that psu is really capable to provide what it promises - yes, it`s enough. just have in mind that a psu gets weaker when getting older.

I guess you could just try it.

If you get black sreens while using your pc, it`s most likely your psu.
