be careful with the meds if they prescribe them ... some are very hard to get off of once you're on them and have a lot of withdrawal symptoms.

well, meds help, even if you dont believe in them. But as long as you think you can go without them, its ok. Hope counselling helps you and gives you new perspective on things. Best of luck with it =)

yeah I agree meds can be quite helpful. But make sure you understand exactly what you are getting.

One commonly prescribed drug here is Effexor which has really strong withdrawal symptoms as do other drugs in that class...

meds are definetly helpful

never heard of Effexor tho. Most people that I know are depressed get Remeron and that has like no side effects (aside from makes you a little drowsy) and no withdrawl symptoms at all.

Still, if you have a good doctor, the withdrawl is managed and your eased off the medication rather than cold turkey. Any doctor that takes you off medication such as antidepressents or medication you've been takin for an extended period of time cold turkey is a bad fuckin doctor imo

Nothing wrong with a small dose of medication IMO. Sometimes it can get you back into the right habits. Like eating.

i agree but not without a healthy dose of talking (with a professional that is) i am not a friend of psych-medication without the proper amount of counseling.

i don't think i'd be any better if i hadn't had regular appointments with a Psychiatrist taht went along with it.

and i don't think Docs should put you on some heavy stuff - which some doctors tend to do
