Its that time again, current hdds are bursting at the seems and I need a new hdd. Since I only have 4 Sata ports inside and no eSata I was hoping to get an external using USB but maybe with eSata as an option just in case my future mobos have it, but would rather a second opinion, limited budget, NZ$200 max, was gonna go for a 500GB most likely WD since its cheaper and Seagates are mostly sold out all the time but was wondering what enclosures were better, I had an ICZ one in the past but it was kinda crap so replaced it with a Cooler Master Xcraft (Think thats it, its currently behind the monitor and speakers in the corner, its hardly on so I'm not too bothered about it overheating cause of it being in a corner) because it seemed to have a smarter design than the block of metal known as ICZ but the top is easy as to take off, maybe I'm just not doing it right but that's another story, so yeah, I was wondering for a better brand.
Another problem about Sata cards is that I ran out of hdd space and my 8800GT takes up 1 of the hdd bays so I would have to buy an enclosure aswell, thanks in advance for opinions.

That's pretty cool, plus I like the looks of it to boot.

Thats a pretty damn cool idea but they don't seem to sell in NZ (Surprise surprise, I hate this place).
EDIT: Now that I check Thermaltake site it says nobody stocks it to begin with
Currently there is no Retail or Online Store that has stock on this product.
Please check back for updated list or contact us by phone at 800-988-1088 or email to sales@thermaltakeusa.com
Oh well.

Not really. I have e few HDs I keep around the desk as basically bricks for holding paper. They're old (5+ years), slow HD drives that have been used for bricks for most of their time, and they still work very well, with no data loss over the years. Granted they are not 500GB drives with GBs of data on each mm, HDs can take quite the punishment.

Not that cheap when you consider SATA is hot-swappable anyway (and my case has an external connector).

i'd rather keep things clean than always deal with cable mess everytime i swap the drive
30 euro is a price of one standard HDD enclosure so yeah i consider it cheap

A docking station is actually a good idea, but is there any good brands apart from Thermaltake that make em? I'm just searching a few NZ sites (More to see whats available instead of just looking at what I can't have) now but haven't come up with much yet.

Yes, it powers the rest of the computer

Not saying it's a bad idea, it's a good idea (especially one with hot-swapping), but I just don't think 30 EURO's is 'cheap' when I could buy a more useful hard-drive for just a bit more. That's the way I see it. Cheap would be half maybe three-quarters that price but maybe I'm being too harsh.
